46 points in a quarter. **** with that. And not one TO called

I just went back, and we *literally* did not call one dang timeout in that quarter. The only timeouts were the mandatory tv timeouts.

It really is unbelievable. How are you that incompetent with basic basketball coaching strategy? It really is jr high level stuff.

Lo and behold, our star is out of rhythm

Kind of happens when you freeze him out and stop going to him after a masterful first half. Another coaching failure that he can't even recognize. Already getting coached circles around.

Ya I'm sorry can we not do this? Tatum just dropped 51 points like 4 days ago, now we have to pretend he's so mentally weak that him not getting the for a couple minutes caused hium to turn it over 3 times in like 60 seconds?

Nope. He made some mistakes. His fault, not the coaches.

Who is calling him mentally weak? This is EVERY player. You can't just go from consistently getting the ball in the first half and getting in a rhythm, to barely getting any action and then expect to pick up right where you left off.

This has nothign to do with Tatum as a player. Every player is going to be like that, because it's about rhythm. That's on the coach to recognize this and make the appropriate adjustments, which of course does not happen with our kindergarten level coach.

I'm sorry, but no. I disagree with this entire sentiment. It was literally like a week ago where he missed almost literally every shot he took for 44 minutes then hit 4 threes to win game 6. He didn't need some great "rythm" then. he made plays. tonight was the opposite, great for 44 then nothing down the stretch. It happens.

A player sucking is on the player. Mazzula didn't force Tatum to throw the ball to Buitler, jump without a plan, or drag his pivot foot.

First off, your argument isn't valid and doesn't follow from the premises. Shooting and missing is NOT the same thing as not shooting at all. The old basketball adage is that "shooters shoot" and they'll eventually shoot themselves back into a rhythm. You simply can't do that if you're not getting the shots in teh first place, as it takes away your entire rhythm. And this is not even considering that we've seen all year long that everything runs through Tatum and we go as he goes. Icing him for most of the second half is absolutely a major mental mistake by both the team but especially the coach who is supposed to recognize that and adjust accordingly.

Mazzula has his problems but this is one Mazzula tried to fix by calling a timeout and getting Tatum involved and first thing Tatum does is throw the ball to Butler.

So agree to disagree I guess.

You want to criticize Mazzula ask why the hell he's playing Payton Pritchard in the ECF.

This team has the most collective talent in the league.  2 All NBA players, the most depth (though we don't use it), former DPOY...everything we need.

They lack discipline, poise, accountability, heart, consistent effort, lack of urgency....

This is something Joe has to instill but doesn't.

Seriously?

Joe Mazzulla: "We won three of the fourth quarters. We lost one quarter because of our sense of urgency. ... We have to raise our level of urgency and our mindset."

I don't know, they seemed to have all those things when they won a road game 6 and cruised to a game 7 victory against the league MVP.

I think its possible this is a game where the other team just made a lot of jumpers. We'll see.

46 points in the third quarter -- a Heat playoff record for any quarter.

43 was the previous mark, vs. Charlotte in 2016.

Nah he definitely called a TO when they got within 5 or so

Nope. That was the automatic tv timeout. Just went back and looked through the play by play. He *literally* did not call a timeout throughout that entire quarter.

MIami literally does nothing fancy. They are just going to let the Celtics implode and steal wins

This team really isn't fun to watch a good majority of the time. Complete opposite team from last year that was very easy to root for. Just dumb basketball from the head coach on down.

Yeah, I was just going to ask if anybody actually enjoys watching this team play anymore. Sure, they have their high moments, but they constantly disappoint and underachieve.

I wish I could become a game on in the background while I do other stuff during the regular season kind of guy. And just not watch the postseason at all. Only one team can win it all and it seems we are stuck with the early 90s Buffalo Bills.

You can't because you are a Celtics fan.
What real fan could do what you are asking of yourself ?
We have a real talented team with fatal flaws, recipe for insanity.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

They dont beat themselves.  We do.

Our coach sucks.  Theirs is the best in the league.

They hustle for 48 minutes.  We don't.

Taytum took 4 shots in the second half and had zero attempts in the fourth quarter. Despite his mental mistakes down the stretch, he was playing well for most of the game. The man just dropped 51 points three days ago. Why wasn't he given the ball?

Honestly i don't even think how much Tatum was involved was even a problem. The C's got great looks preceding the Tatum turnover stretch. Wide open three from brown. Wide open three from Horford. Didn't knock either down. Sometimes you run good offense and just don't hit shots.

You want to criticize Mazzula ask why the hell he's playing Payton Pritchard in the ECF.

Oh, he gets crap for the PP move, too, especially with the entire decision to not play GWill at all anymore.

But I just disagree. Everything runs through Tatum, and we don't go anywhere without that, as he's the only one that consistently attracts the entire defense's attention and makes them make mistakes with his presence. That is absolutely on the coach to reocgnize that and adjust. It's on Tatum to be demanding the ball in those situations, too, but when it doesn't happen it's the coach's role to force the issue.
