One thing that is easy to forget, is that Atlanta beat Miami in the play in game. That does not mean they would have to beat Miami in a series, but Atlanta did beat Miami in a important game.

It's actually ironic. We were rooting for ATL to win that game so we avoid MIA first round and play an easier first round opponent, but as fate would determine, we end up playing Miami anyways in a later round  :P

It’s because Miami is fundamentally quite an unsound team.

This is true, but it is also true that Jimmy Butler can only metabolise one thing: victory.

Celts Sweep! I think the bell tolls on the Heat...they have overachieved and Celts have underachieved. I think the switch has flipped...I have a feeling the Celts wont let their foot off the gas the rest of these playoffs.

Pure talent wise I think the C's should win this in 5. Jimmy Butler and/or Spo are good enough to steal a game. But we all know by now the C's will screw around once this series and just give MIA a game, because they've done it every series the last two years (except Brk).

So Jimmy/Spo take one, Celtics fumble another, the question then becomes does some Heat role player(s) have a crazy game and the Heat win one with a 50% from three type shooting performance? Maybe, but i'll go C's in 6.

Max Strus

Is Strus better than Hauser?  How much better?  If Strus was on the Celtics, where would he be on the depth chart?  Ahead of Grant?

Against 28 other teams, he'd be about in line with Hauser. Against the Celtics, he somehow always seems to turn into Michael Jordan.

Given how we played against the Hawks and how they played against Milwaukee, I'm guessing that we're lucky that we didn't have that #1 seed.

Ah, how could I forget! His will to win is indomitable, except for all those times he loses

The Miami Heat has eight undrafted players -- the most on any post-season team in modern NBA history. We have two All-NBA players reaching their prime, the Sixth man of the year, and a former DPOY. At this point, the Celtics are their own worst enemies. If they lose this series, it will be due to their mental lapses and lack of focus.

EDIT: I'm not saying the Cs shouldn't respect the Heat as worthy adversaries, but they've been massive overachievers and their lack of talent should catch up with them in this series. Keyword is *should*

I think both can be true. Miami is a worthy adversary and they have been massive overachievers. They are a well coached team that takes advantage of an opportunity in front of them. If you give them an opportunity or slip up they will take it, but their margin for error is slimmer.

I mean, can you imagine Miami going up against a Denver nuggets/La Lakers? it was pretty evident in 2020 bubble that their talent level wasn't on par with the west. and IMO that was a better roster

it really depends on which celtics show up. is it game 6/7 celtics? or game 5 celtics. Hopefully game 6/7 was the Celtics turning a corner and finding something defensively that will carry over into the next round. and also hopefully tatums last 5 quarters carries over too..

Yeah, I forgot about that. Miami has a clear advantage in coaching. Spoelstra is an all-timer. Joe is a young, rookie coach who is still on a learning curve. He made the right decisions in the final two games against Philly, but it concerns me that he had to be talked into using the double-big lineup. It sounds like the players pressured him.

Here is a question. Can/will Butler outplay Tatum and be the best player in the series?

No. Tatum is far more skilled, and the Celtics also have a wide range of wings that can guard Butler. He will have his hands full with Brown, Smart, White and Brogdon. Miami's options for defending Tatum are very limited.
