I know that "what ifs" aren't for everybody, but I tend to like them as thought experiments.

Gallinari tore his ACL in early September.  Subsequent to that injury, we signed Vonleh, Jackson and Griffin.  In February we traded for Muscula, and we signed Champagnie to round out the roster in April.

Let's say Gallo had been healthy this season.  What does Brad do differently, if anything?  What does our rotation look like?  Are we better or worse?

I've thought about this too.  I think he would have been a part of the rotation, and help spell Horford a bit (his offensive role).  Also would have helped makeup for Grant Williams's surprising season of down performance.

I think he would have filled in for Al and also played along side him while Rob was out. He’s still got a role in the playoffs but it’s reduced.

One of Vonleh or Griffin doesn’t get brought in and they find a wing instead. Hauser is a deep bench substitute, rarely sees the floor and doesn’t develop as a player.

Grant still plays when Horford sits b2b games but his court time averages out to 12-15 minutes a game instead of 20.

Better , three starter types for the second unit , better than two.

Worse. Gallo couldn't play much defense before his most recent injury. C's have enough shooters, they need a 4/5 off the bench that can play some defense and rebound.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Any shot Gallo activated if we make it to the finals?

Idk. I'd rather see Gallo take a couple of those wide open 3's Al's been bricking lately.

I believe he would have phased out Grant much earlier. He would have been used in the Horford/space the floor as a 4 role.

Could have gone small with Gallo at the 5

Could have played him with Al or him with Rob. Spacing would have been a lot better because he can shoot from outside.

Would have been an actual wing off the bench that they don't have now seeing Hauser is not playoff playable.

I don't think so.  But, theoretically, if the Celtics were leading 3-0 in the Finals, I wouldn't be opposed to suiting up Gallo just so that he could enter a game during a championship run.

We're a long, long way from that, though.
