This defense has to change or you can kiss 18 good bye

When are you guys gonna accept the fact that we aren't winning a title as long as Mazzulla is coach ?

He is too much opf a disadvantage to overcome.

well heck then lets shut the board ::) ::) down and all quit

Gotta be honest:  for some reason I'm having a really hard time getting into this playoff run.  Not as excited as I was last year.  Barely watching any of the games.

Not sure why.

I've considered that.

I think most here will consider it a fact when it is fact.

I do see a team shooting 73% in a half and up only 3. That’s depressing.

Sixers can play loose. Nothing to lose really - a win for them would be unexpected and a coup. Harden can just hit all night. Melton will miss - even open - eventually.

Cs can’t keep a lead — nothing new there. Not likely to shoot over 70% in the 2nd half no matter how ineffective Sixers’ D is.

The drop coverage just completely ruin s our defensive plan. Even if the picker doesn't hit the shot, it allows the ball handler all of the room in the world to operate and set up the play.

Just more complete failure by the coaching staff to recognize this and make the adjustment. They're just abusing our bigs every time with this dang extreme drop coverage.

The Philly run is a direct result of an adjustment where the Celtics don't use drop coverage. They're doubling and going over the screen, allowing Philly to penetrate and dish more. The threes are still raining (credit to Philly), but it's not for the same reason as Q1.

Celts had 40 points in the paint in the first half. We're seeing why 3 > 2 (why the Suns lost Game 1) and a great vindication of Joe's usual offensive focus.

TLDR: Everyone will cool off. Adjustments are being made. Both teams are just making crazy shots.

I've not seen any adjustments to the big coverage, as I'm still seeing both Al and Timelord being way, way back on every high PnR. Though I wasn't paying attention to the other components.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

It’s the best the Celtics have played in recent memory and they’re only up 3, easily could’ve pushed the lead to 20 but just like in the hawks series doing whatever it takes to let the other team in the game

I’m concerned boston has not been able to detach from either Atlanta or Philly. Get up double digits and then give it immediately right back. Like within minutes.

We're shooting 74%, 57% from 3PT, we have more rebounds and more FTs...  and we're up by 3.

chuck just said we are just coasting on D and not taking sixers serious

Fair enough. I think it's a lot more likely they start missing 3's than us missing easy layups.

Agreed. The Celtics feel totally in control of this game. But since it's only 3 points, they can't let their foot off the gas. People are justifiably nervous since the C's have a tendency to do just that.

I do think it's more likely that Philly makes fewer threes or the C's fine-tune their D at half and go on a huge run, but Maxey could always go off.

The Sixers are also shooting 57% on threes on more attempts.

Chuck nailed it. The Cs are going through the motions and treating this game as a scrimmage. They should be up double digits. The defense has to show up or this could be a major upset.

Barkley making a good point at halftime. Basically don't fool around, or you risk letting the genie out of the bottle. Tom Heinsohn always used to talk about that. When you let your foot off the gas pedal you start giving the other team confidence, and things can snowball.

Because it’s pretty obvious this team is untrustworthy and going to blow it even if it’s in game 7 of the finals…seems inevitable

We played our best ball with Brogdon on the floor.  We're going to need a lot of him in the 2nd half.
