Wow, what is up with James Harden?

Quote
Footage of James Harden smacking someone in the face in Las Vegas

The Sixers had a few days off and James Harden decided to go to Vegas earlier this week

If he was just some NBA player, he'd get slapped with a suspension or two. But since he's All-Star James Harden, they'll slap a fine on him and will be ready for Game 1

We can’t even tell if this was a friend he was joking around with or what. Don’t really think there will be any punishment. His commitment to basketball is pretty clearly not great tho.

Not worried about Philly at all.

However, Boston screwed up in the Atlanta series and let them hang around when they shouldn't have. It was far more about Boston's lackadaisical approach than it was Atlanta's strong player. Atlanta gained some confidence as the series went on because Boston did not step on their neck when they had the chance to.

I expect a repeat of that in this series. So another akward 6 game series when BOS should sweep PHI.

I don't feel great about this series after what I saw against Atlanta.  We couldn't defend the Hawks, and Philly is a much more talented offensive team.

If the Celtics choke away leads and give away games like they did against the Hawks, they won't advance.

Different teams, different matchups. We seem to have always matched up well against the 76ers.

What about the fact that Celtics have only lost like 1 game to this team in the last 3 years. And the one we did Embiid had 52 points and Brown was out

Also not sure how Embiid will be with his sprained LCL. That doesn't heal in a week

I just don't get all the angst with Philly. Boston is a bad match up for them. Sixers play a slow, plodding type of offense centered around a guy that has a bad knee. Boston will throw Grant, Rob, Al, Brogdan and a few others at Embiid and they will wear him out.

Celtics need to play with tempo. Run every time you can because sooner or later Embiid will tap out.

Harden still plays zero defense. Harris is the most overpaid player in the league that disappears.

And they have Doc Rivers as their coach. He's good enough for at least 1 loss in the series with his stupid coaching.

Cs didn't respect Atlanta. They didn't take them seriously. Philly will have their attention.

Boston struggles with little quick guards. Philly is more of a lumbering team.

So, 13% of our Forum believes the Sixers win.  I can't believe that two people actually think the Sixers win in 5 games.  What am I missing?

Celtics fans tend to be a pretty negative group. I get being nervous and that the regular season doesn't portend the playoffs. And on paper the sixers are alot better than Atlanta. But matchups matter sometimes more than the better team. I feel better against the 76ers than I would against the Knicks or Cavs. Just because those two teams have given us fits.

I still think those regular season games show something. I mean when you beat a team over and over and over it does show a trend.

For me also, I look at that loss to PHI late in the season as "whatever". Embiid put up 52. Tatum played poorly. Brown and Timelord were out. Kornet played 15 minutes (lol). And PHI still nearly threw it away in the final seconds, and only held on to win by 2 at home. And then earlier in the season, we missed 3 starters (including our two centers), Brown left at halftime with the face injury, and we still beat them.

PHI will definitely take a game this series, possibly 2. I'd genuinely be stunned if they took more than two though. Oddly enough I think in this series, a close game in the 4th probably benefits us more than them. In the first round, BKN was clearly young and inexperienced in those moments and the Sixers took advantage. We aren't.

I just think the Sixers need A LOT to go right just to be able to keep up against the C's. Idk if they can do that for 3-4 games this series though. Embiid puts up monster numbers against us usually anyways and the Sixers usually still lose, sometimes by double digits

Everyone points to how they dispatched Brooklyn vs us needing 6 to beat Atlanta ,but

Brooklyn was probably the weakest of heat/Atlanta/Brooklyn. That team literally had no stars to worry about. I mean Spencer dinwiddie? No one on that team is close to a Jimmy Butler or trae young

One of those votes is mine, because I selected the wrong response and voted before I noticed.

Then C's have no excuse losing this. But as we saw in the Atlanta series in Game 5, they'll play down to their opponent and lose a close one at the TD Garden. Bank it.

76ers’ Joel Embiid is doubtful for Game 1 vs. Celtics, Doc Rivers says.

I wonder if PHI is sort of accepting "tanking Game 1" to give Embiid some more time. I think PHI deep down knows that for them to win, they'll have to do it in 6 or 7 and they need Embiid as healthy as possible once it's their turn at home (Games 3, 4, 6)

PHI are still very good without Embiid.

Harden, Maxey and T Harris all get to see more of the ball and be more comfortable in the offense when Embiid is not around. They step up and replace most of his offense.

The bigger loss is the interior D and rebounding.
