As someone going to Game 2, I'm interested in seeing when Game 2 will be (Monday? Tuesday? Wednesday?). I'm guessing we'll find out tomorrow though

It's the playoffs. It will be 3 weeks from game.1.

So, have to think we'll stick with the Smart, White, Brown, Tatum, Al starting lineup against Atlanta. Will be important to draw out Capela from the lane, and that'll provide a ton of spacing for the guards and Jays to penetrate and pick on the Trae and Collins matchups.

I'd like to see them put Trae in the high PnR with one of the Jays or post the guards on him often this series.

Haven't faced ATL in the playoffs since '16 when they beat the C's.  So I guess there is some revenge factor there for storyline purposes.  ;)

Hawks could be tricky first round.

The East is really deep this year - any team we play is going to be tricky. One of Miami/Toronto isn’t going to make the playoffs.

Miami finished 3 games ahead of Miami - we should consider this a win (if only slightly)

Yup, every team is going to pose some challenges. But I think if we play at our best we should have their measure.

That was a well balanced team. I remember Horford along with Teague, Milsap, & Bazemore doing some real damage against the C's.

Wonder if Butler catches any flack for this performance. Dude seems to never get any negative press for coming up short in playoffs.

Yeah. Too bad they got swept by the Cavs right after

Those Hawks teams in the mid-2010s were always frustrating. Great regular seasons, well-oiled machine and roster but typically underwhelmed in the postseason

They've been a middling playoff team for many years. Usually a first/second-round exit and esp when LeBron was still in the east he'd have his way sweeping them. Tho they've started seeing some improvement recently, like 2021 in the ECF against the Bucks.

great regular season?  They won 53 games once and had the 60 win ECF season, but otherwise never won more than 48 games.  They won at least 1 playoff series in 5 of the 10 consecutive playoff seasons, obviously losing in the 1st round the other 5, but again they were mostly a mid-40 win team.  That is actually a fair amount of playoff success given their actual regular season record.  Also, they lost only 2 times to a team with a worse record, the Celtics in 12 and the Cavs in 15 and beat a team with a better record or the same record, twice as well.  In other words, they were just about the definition of a team that performed like their record said they should.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Suits me fine.  Hawks figure to be a much less physical opponent than the Heat.  Not easier necessarily… just not the kind of rock fight that wore us down in the playoffs last year.

I think mid-40s is a pretty good season, but maybe my standards are lower than others lol.

They really blew it in the 2014-2015 season where they won 60. Not just that they lost the ECF, but got swept.

Those Hawks teams were definitely a consistent playoff team and threat for a while. Just never could get over the hump at times

Man I feel so happy and relieved we aren’t facing Miami Round 1. No Bam. No Lowry and his flopping. No Butler. No zone defense. No Spoelstra magic. No Herro becoming Ray Allen.

I still wanted the 1 seed to have HCA against Milwaukee in a potential series, BUT I wonder how this looks if we face ATL first round AND the Bucks actually draw the Heat lol. MIL would obviously win but it’d probably be a bit more of a grind than expected than if it were ATL/TOR/CHI

I think it's hilarious that Miami lost that game. And I'm also happy the Cs won't have to deal with them. I'm so tired of the Heat.
