I like to concern myself less with what others think, but now you get put into these moments and it’s like you don’t have a choice," Brown recently told The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn. "[Bleep] it, I’m campaigning for myself."

Brown has a campaign pitch prepared -- and it's a pretty strong one.

"I think I’m more than deserving. This is the second-best team in the league. I’ve played nothing but winning basketball, helped lead my team and I’m in the [top] 10 in scoring and I’m efficient. I guess you look at the criteria and I think I more than meet it. We’ve dominated for the most part of the season. I’ve been available. What more do people want? But it’s out of my control."

The stats support Brown's comments; the 26-year-old finished ninth in the NBA in scoring (26.6 points per game) while shooting a career-high 49.1 percent from the floor. His 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game both were career highs as well, and he's also an elite defender who played 67 games for the second-best team in basketball.

Brown's All-NBA case could come down to whether he's eligible as a guard or forward, as he'd have an easier time making the Third Team as a forward. But the fact that he's been one of the game's best two-way players on one of the league's best teams gives him a pretty compelling argument.

Brown isn't stumping on his own, either, as C's president of basketball operations Brad Stevens made the case for his All-Star on Sunday.

"I think he’s doing a great job of obviously scoring the ball, scoring when we need it, but we asked him to do a lot defensively," Stevens told reporters. "And we asked him, along with Jayson (Tatum), to read a lot of pretty intense coverages with extra bodies flying at them, with extra bodies shifted over to them.

"We’re unique because we have those two guys, who are just amazing young players, and they really accentuate our role players. But then we’ve got a group of role players that really accentuate them. So, I think that they deserve to be on that (All-NBA) team, and Jaylen in particular, I thought has really had a great run here."

I‘m going to interpret this as a sign that Jaylen wants to sign a supermax this summer with Boston.

Maybe already posted somewhere else here, but this should be a fun site to track as the various media members reveal their ballots before the actual announcements.

Michael Pina has him on the 2nd team, saying this:

Quote
Jaylen Brown has emerged this year as one of the best scorers in basketball. He’s making 58 percent of his 2-point shots and remains a torpedo in transition (only Giannis and LeBron have more fast-break points) where his effective field goal percentage is a blistering 66.9. Since breaking his face in early February, Brown is averaging 27.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, as the second-best player on a team with the second-best record. Brown’s advanced numbers aren’t great, but some of that’s due to how well the Celtics play when he’s on the bench (Boston staggers Jaylen and Tatum).

While Bill Simmons and Ryan Russillo have him on the 3rd team.

These are the only 3 guys who have revealed their full All-NBA votes so far, so still a ways to go, but 3 down, 97 more to go.

Did Simmons and Russillo have Jaylen at forward like Pina or at guard?

I haven't listened yet, but I do know in their conversations over the last month they've had him as a forward on their 3rd team. I don't think he has any chance at making it if he's considered a guard only.

In many ways, it would be good for Boston also if he got his All-NBA.  Thus the pitch from Brad.

Ya all 3 (Pina, Simmons, Russillo) have him at forward.

I think he deserves it.  The only real negative I have for the dude this year is that his three ball has kind of abandoned him, especially given how many of them he shoots.  But he's a transition nightmare, his midrange game is one of the best in the league, he plays both ends, and he has arguably been more consistent over the course of the season than even JT.

Individual success is there.  Team success is there.  Give it to the guy so we can pay him and keep his ass in Boston, lol.

Sidenote:  I still feel like he doesn't get respect from the refs, given his style of play.  He's a physical offensive player and he puts a lot of pressure on the rim.  Yet he really doesn't get many FTs despite that.  Not sure why that is.

Oddly, JT has had the same problem, although that's been more of a two-year slide for Tatum.

Seen a couple people put AD at forward, although Russilo is the only one so far with a confirmed ballot to do so. It's a little weird considering he has played almost literally 0 % at PF this year. I don't think it will actually matter since I don't think enough voters are going to consider him a forward for him to get real consideration, but ti does show how differently people approach the vote.

I wonder how much his wrist injury has affected his shot and whether he will have surgery after the season? Leaving it to heal on its own hasn’t worked.

JJ Redick said on his podcast today that he has Jaylen as a 2nd team forward.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Here's a decent tracker of everyone who's made their vote public. Good news so far: Of the 5 who leaked all-NBA votes, Jaylen is 2nd-team forward on 3 and 3rd-team forward on 2.

Assuming the spreadsheet is correct, Chris Broussard is an idiot.  He put Tatum as 1st team Guard, Embiid as 1st team forward and Luka as 2nd team forward.  So he's given them 0 points at their real positions and hurt their chances.

"remains a torpedo in transition"

Had to laugh at that description. .... And it's true, Brown goes at the basket in those fast breaks like few others in the league. He often, like a torpedo, hits his target in dramatic fashion, IF he doesn't blow up before by forcing the play and getting out of control and turning the ball over. I'd be real interested to see the ratio for Brown in terms of fast break opportunities that are converted vs opportunities that are lost due to a turnover.
