Wish he could shoot threes...

Yam Madar has completely stalled though, but the guy from Partizan we should be targeting is actually Dante Exum who is killing it at the moment. And shooting a great clip from deep.

I've learned not to get excited about stats and highlights from the G-League.

Fair. I believe in a variation on this. If a guy dominates G League, he might or might not make it in the NBA. You can’t tell. But if a guy is mediocre in the G League he’s got no shot at the NBA. So at least I think JD is showing enough to stay in the maybe category.

He does need to get better at shooting. Hope he’s getting good coaching and putting up a lot of shots

The talent is there, former five star recruit.  As for him shooting three's, IDC, he's a PG.

He needs to improve his shooting and cut down on his turnovers.

The few moments he has gotten against NBA talent, he looks faster than everybody else. A bit out of control, and unrefined, but that is what the G league is for. Definitely worth monitoring him for a year or two to see if he can work on his game.

Based on what I have seen, which is bits and pieces of summer league, G-League, and NBA garbage time, I would say that he projects as a solid back up point guard, who will have a decent NBA career (say 5 or more NBA seasons as a bench player).  But he is only 20.  No doubt he could raise his ceiling.  He seems like a hard worker, good attitude.

One limitation is his size, 6'-1" and 195 lbs is small.  About the same as Pritchard.  He is probably faster than Pritchard (maybe not quicker), but he does not shoot like Pritchard, at least not so far.  And Pritchard can maintain his quickness while dribbling due to his high end handles.

So in other words, Davison is doing great for a second round pick.  Projecting to be a solid pick.

IIRC he threw down a nice dunk in a Red Claws game i watched courtside.  I think I even have a photo of it!

My impression is that he has solid physicality and athleticsm and decent handles. Court vision is ok, should improve with experience like Marcus Smart.

His shooting and scoring feel raw, but again that could improve like Smart. The intellect is there, but he needs to put in the work to get to a point where he'll get playing time.

There is no doubt he has NBA level athleticism, he has already shown that.  The question is if he can develop NBA level shooting touch and ball handling consistency (play more under control).  Marcus Smart is not a bad comp but Marcus is 6'-3"/225 lbs, and overall much stronger.  Davison is actually going to need more touch and skill than Marcus.

Does he have decent form from what you could tell? His shooting numbers aren’t bad. Basically 52/35/70.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

[dang], C’s could really use that type of rebounding with Rob out. I wonder if they could send Grant up to Maine and bring Kabengele down for a few games.
