So Brad Stevens is sitting a few seats away from me courtside at the Cs first playoff game. Cs are doing well so far.

Maybe Brad is doing some scouting on who to bring up?

Either believe the Celtics tried but just didn't like any of the available options or believe they could have signed some helpful player but didn't because they are cheap.

It’s hard to believe they came to the conclusion that there’s not a single basketball player available, anywhere, that adds more value than literally nobody.

Hell, sign Sue Bird.  She’d being more than literally nothing.

Not better than nobody, better than Davison or Kabengele, who have been the ones taking the available roster spots, when needed.  So Sue Bird should take Davison's place and play the garbage time minutes?  That makes the Celtics better?  That helps develop Davison?

You can't do both.  You can't "promote" the two way players and have other players on the roster, unless you make a roster player inactive.  But if the roster player isn't better than Davison or Kabengele, there is no point.  So it is not really "nobody".  I don't think the 2-ways can play in the playoffs but I assume they could be converted or maybe that is when they should sign Sue Bird.  Right now, if they signed Sue Bird and made her active, she would bump Davison off and he wouldn't be able to play (or Kabengele would need to be bumped).  I don't think we are better off with Sue Bird on the Bench over either.

I am not a big fan of Kabengele.  It does seem to me that there should be someone out there that we could sign, put on the active roster, and be a better option.  But that is not the same as being better than nobody.

Even if somebody is signed as purely a practice body and cheerleader, it is better than literally nobody.

Nice. You should ask him. Also, the Maine Celtics playoff game is on ESPN2 for anyone that wants to tune in. It’s Halftime.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

A 22-2 run, seems like the main team.

He could be scouting either team  Utah signed Samanic.  We could sign someone from Cleveland, at least anyone not on a 2-way deal.

For that much debated final roster spot, the Celtics could convert a two-way, sign a G-Leaguer, or pick up a free agent vet.  Two way players can be converted anytime up to the last day of the season and I assume be playoff eligible.  Davison appears to be a worthy player but we don't really need another PG.  We don't really need anything but a big or a wing would seem to address "thinner" positions.

Of the G-League wings, Shayok, Valentine, and Snell, Shayok has actaully been playing the best, at least based on box scores.  Snell and Valentine have actual NBA experience though.  Snell at 6'-6" has the size you would like.  We could of course also pick up someone from another team like Utah did when they grabbed Samanic.

Converting Kabengele makes some sense too but I just don't think he is that good.  I can't see him playing a single meaningful minute in the playoffs.  I guess that is true for all of these guys.

As to other NBA vets, I would think if we liked someone, we would have already signed them.  I can't see us bring in someone at this point.  The 2-way'ers have been with the team all season so kind of know the drill.  The other Celtics G-Leaguers at least should know the basic systems or schemes.

I read that we are looking for someone to sign at the end of the season. You'd think you'd want someone who could at least get acquainted with the team before the playoffs.

I've been predicting it for awhile:  we'll sign somebody on the last day of the regular season, to maximize savings.  It will be a two year deal, with the second year non-guaranteed.

I don't think the team has any desire to add a player who may actually play in the playoffs.  The signing will be purely to add a non-guaranteed salary to trade this summer if we need it.

I think at this point you are clearly right.

So Danny saw something in Luka Samanic to give him a 10 day contract? If he pans out for Utah this place is gonna explode. I wanna see how this plays out.

Update: So he had a pretty good line of 9/9/4/1/1 in 24 minutes vs the Spurs.

I’ve been frustrated by us not signing a big better than kornet but have to admit bucks bench doesn’t look any better than ours despite them adding tons of guys.

Crowder was supposed to be this "secret weapon". Our guards/wings will just cook him on defense. They did tonight as well.
