Just watching the end of the sixers Memphis game.

Memphis looks like a first round exit. They do not finish games at all

Morant to me is kind of like Trae Young. Fun players to root for but probably not guys who can be alphas on a championship team. They need a lot around them to make it happen, which Memphis does have when healthy. Morant + Young also score a lot from drives and drawing fouls (FTs). But if you can negate that they become fairly meh. Even tonight Morant has shot terribly with Embiid clogging up the paint

If Rob doesn’t start regaining his mobility, we’re staring at the possibility that he may be a matchup guy going forward.

Hopefully he plays his way out of this, if not this season then at least long-term.  But the week off didn’t appear to do much for him.

Maybe Timelord's worst defensive game of his career. Letting Turner get a 40 piece is ridiculous. Evidence of his limited lateral mobility it seems.

Turner goes 8-10 from 3 with 0 dribble drives while Rob was playing in our switching defense where he ended up defending a different player and this is your observation?

You ever think there may have been a reason he went 8-10? He was wide open virtually every time.

Rob was getting cooked all night on the perimeter no matter who he was guarding - big or small. They weren't consistent on the switch at all. Actually, a lot of the time they looked like they were trying not to switch because Rob was getting cooked so much by the guards. Rob just looked slow all night long out on the perimeter.

Al wasn't much better either.

The team was baiting Turner into shooting like they have since he’s been used as a 3 point shooter on the Pacers; he hasn’t made them even close to the rate he did tonight until tonight.

When the team started to respect him, the Pacers did a great job off the ball to get shooters free and put the team into a pick your poison situation.

Regardless, Rob barely guarded Myles as he guards the corner shooters to provide help defense at the rim and rebound. Myles set up and made most of his shots above the break.

Rob doesn’t have his optimal mobility yet he wasn’t targeted and Halliburton didn’t like the matchup after getting his 3 blocked. It was a poor take singling out Rob, but good luck with that.

Turner was open for some of those shots, but he also hit a few with a defender nearby, above the break and a few feet behind the arc. He just had one of those nights.

As a comp - for the season, even wide open (nobody w/in six feet), he’s averaged under 40%. https://www.nba.com/player/1626167/myles-turner/

Edit: and just saw it confirmed - eight made threes is a career record for Turner.

Marcus Smart coming up big in the overtime.

My concern was that Al and Rob both looked very pedestrian.  Why not play Grant or someone.  6 min for Grant, 5 for Kornet, and no other bench bigs.  I guess it didn't hurt our offensive rebounding.

Yeah, watching both of them get cooked on the perimeter all night I had the same thought. He gives up height and verticality, but GWill at least has a better chance of staying with his guy on the perimeter, which is where they were killing us.

Next game I hope Joe goes with Moose over Luke.

Is Nesmith a bust at this point or do you give him one more year?

He helped win the game for Boston tonight! (Boy was I happy to see him launch that late 3.)

Yeah, I’m not sure you watched the same game as the rest of us, man.

Both of the bigs looked pretty pedestrian to bad out on the perimeter tonight, even when that was a strength last year.

Tired of OT games but a win is a win.

I like wins where we don't play well but still manage to find a way to win. We let Turner score 40, including 8-10 from the perimeter, and let the Pacers shoot 52%/40% from 3 but we managed to find a way. Clearly they need to be better but at this point in the season wins are wins as you said.

In fairness to our defense...  that was by far the best offensive game I've even seen Turner play.

I watched the game on mute for the most part.  Was there any mention of why Grant got so few minutes, and why MM didn't see the floor?

True. It is one thing to stretch the floor, but to hit side step and step back 3s above the break as a shot blocking center is absurd.

It's a good thing we pay him as a match up guy for the next three years then.  :)

How about Brogdon with 24/7/5 off the bench. His shooting percentages were excellent too.
Just watched on replay. I like the closing lineup: Smart, Brogdon, Brown, Tatum, Horford. Best overall team that Joe can put out there.

Not sure about MM. But honestly, GWill nowadays just looks like a guy who is out there just running around. Yes he can shoot the corner 3s but even lately, he's pump-faking those and making things more difficult for himself and the offense.

I think at this point, even Hauser might be ahead of him in the depth chart.

I still believe GWill can be a factor, particularly on defense (against Giannis/Embiid-likes), or just knocking down open 3s if the defense disrespects him, but I can see why his minutes have gone down
