Not the kind of thing you want to hear days after the trade deadline. If we was so insistent about wanting to be moved, he should have made it more clear before the deadline. His spot would be easy enough to fill with a buyout veteran PG. Now we are stuck with a disgruntled guy until at least the offseason.

I get that a 1st probably wasn’t on the table, but he would be gone if it was. That should tell him a little bit about his actual value.

This is a bad take. He didn’t exactly have a choice about his current contract/work situation. Unlike you and me, he can’t just put in his two weeks and find a better situation that suits his needs. He’s 5th on the guard depth chart and isn’t getting minutes to try and get his next contract. He probably feels like anyone would when his opportunity to get more money is being threatened. Players like TJ McConnell played for a bum team and he got $9 mil per year. He should push hard for a trade in the offseason to a tree situation for himself. The Cs are not going to pay him once his deal runs out.

So who put a gun to his head and told him to be drafted by a team trying to win a title? We saw how that worked in 2019. It’s managements job to know this. Just another example of Ainge overvaluing draft picks and Stevens having to clean up afterwards.

Doesn’t he realize they may have not been able to move him? And perhaps he doesn’t have any value at $4+ million next year, so perhaps we don’t pick up his team option? At the very least, a bad teammate to complain after the deadline. But he could be costing himself millions over this nonsense.

He should shut up and prove why he deserves more playing time by playing at such a high level it makes no sense to bench him. After all, Brogdon is tall enough to play the 3…so step up, Payton.

This is a bad take. He didn’t exactly have a choice about his current contract/work situation. Unlike you and me, he can’t just put in his two weeks and find a better situation that suits his needs. McConnell is a very good defender and passer, and the type of teammate who would not complain like this. Payton does nothing very good—heck, he has done nothing much at all this year other than whine. I am beginning to wonder if anybody is willing to pay him $4 million next year.

He’s on the Boston Celtics, made a mess in the bed in the NBA Finals and has done nothing since, and now he’s whining about not being dealt before the deadline? 🤦‍♂️ How about you shut up and start playing like you did in your rookie season again?!? Then after the season, we can deal you to someone who’s looking to make you their permanent backup PG in return for something we value more than you.

Me too. Might be valuable over the next few months. Glad he’s here, glad he’s competitive, glad he’s working hard for his next deal.

I saw one line (“I was expecting and hoping to be traded”), followed by a quick mindset shift to being on a great team with great teammates and focusing on working hard every day to be ready when his number’s called. I don’t see the big deal. 

It’s possible, even expected, that players value both self-interest (money; career) and team (winning; camaraderie).  Sometimes there’s a moment when the thoughts of one create the appearance that the other doesn’t matter. One momentary response to a question - and we don’t know the question.  I’m fine with it - glad his mindset is shifted to appreciation of the team and working hard.

Why do people assume he’d be better off on a bad team?  For all we know, he might get paid more based on his “potential” rather than getting more consistent minutes and continuing to get exposed on defense, especially if he played for a team that doesn’t play good team D

It's almost a double-whammy for PP because he may get even fewer minutes now: MM is a good shooter and fills a front court position, so Brogdon and Brown don't need to play wing so much and instead can put in more time in the backcourt.
