After trading away James Wiseman for pennies on the dollar, the Golden State Warriors have admitted defeat.

If Bob Meyers and Warriors ownership had just continued with their original philosophy, they would still be in contention, this season and into the future.

The common theme of Golden State core players was that they were basketballers first and athletes second.

Curry, Thompson, Green, Bogut, Looney, Payton II…ect. are all high IQ, unselfish players, that can operate in Kerr’s movement based offence.

The Warriors had a ‘golden’ opportunity to extend their title window with the 2nd pick in the 2020 draft, 7th & 14th pick in the 2021 draft.

If you use that Warriors model of drafting, LaMelo Ball or Tyrese Halliburton should have been their selection in 2020 and in 2021, Franz Wagner & Alperan Sengun or Trey Murphy III.

When you remember that Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Green & Poole were all multi-year college players, Halliburton, Wagner & Murphy III would be their selections in my opinion.

Curry
Thompson

Green
Looney

I was worried that the Warriors were going to be gifted with an elite big man and Wiseman would be Tim Duncan 2.0.

Feel sorry for him and he’s not another Duncan even without the injuries, but definitely disappointing for him and glad for the league and the Celtics that he’s not going to be part of continuing a dynasty.

The draft is such a crapshoot. Even a player that looks as promising as Wiseman is a gamble. If you are trying to win championships, shouldn’t be rolling the dice like that.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

LaMelo always should have been their pick. He just fit their style so much better.

Or they should have just traded us the pick for Smart and we could've taken LaMelo
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards -

They didn’t want to hurt Steph’s feelings.

Ive always thought they should have drafted Lamelo just to trade Lamelo. Showcase him and then trade to the highest bidder.

Could have got two good players olus 4 firsts.
