Who did you think made out the best(or worst) and what would you give teams for grades?

Celtics: Feel like the C’s addressed their biggest need, a legitimate backup PF/C. Muscala is rotation caliber player that can fill in at the 4 or 5. Also has decent size at 6’11/240lbs and has a pure shot from behind the arc, with a career 3pt shooting percentage of 38%.  Thought the C’s gave up the right amount of draft capital in the trade considering the player and his contract. Grade: B

Mavericks: Not sure trading for Kyrie makes them a legitimate contender and it’s certainly a risky move bringing in such a mercurial player. Will say that I’m very interested to see how Luka does playing with another all star. I think it was a worthwhile gamble for Dallas, especially if Luka supported the move, which I imagine he did. Mavs did have to give up quite a bit to get Irving and if it doesn’t work out, he could walk for nothing.  Grade: C+

Nets: feel like they did blow the team up prematurely considering how well they were playing last month, winning 12 games in a row at one point. One thing to consider is that Brooklyn didn’t give anything up to get KD and Kyrie initially and they were able to flip them for substantial assets. They got more than I thought they would for Kyrie and about what I thought they’d get for KD.  Grade B-

*Will add to this list later, need to take a break. Lol

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Celts, Bucks and Denver are the winners.  They were the best before the deadline, and they’re the best after.

Worst would have to be Dallas, getting Kyrie and losing their key players  ;D

The loser is easy, Nets.  The winner could be the Bucks if Crowder can come out of retirement and play near his formal self, but I don't think that is likely.  I guess you could call it a win for the Celtics as no team passed them.  We still need to not lose ground in the buy out completion though.

To me, the award for the best move by a non-contending team goes to...... Detroit.  I still think Wiseman has loads of potential.  They have this season and all of next to figure it out with him.  Then he is restricted.  I think that deal may end up looking really good for Detroit in the not too distant future.

How would you grade the Clippers on their day adding: Hyland, Gordon, Plumlee? Will be interesting to see if Russ catches on with them as well. I think they are up there with those other teams in terms of being a trade deadline winner.

You guys don’t think this makes the Suns the best team?

The best in the West.

I don't know if they are better than Boston.

Plumlee was good.  I don’t think the rest of the players are clear upgrades.  They’re a very deep, but confusing, roster.

Agreed, although I would add the Suns to that list as well. They become a legit threat to win it all while beforehand they were fizzling out. Sure they could and likely will regret moving those picks soon enough when KD and CP3 fall apart like used cars, but they have a legit shot to win it all now whereas before they were not in that group.

They might be if all goes well, but they gave up a lot too, and they will have to figure out things really fast. They will need a lot from Chris Paul and TJ Warren. Durant is a plus defender but they definitely went backwards quite a bit defensively, and Bridges and Johnson provided over 31 ppg too.

Basketball isn't played on paper..... what's the likelihood that Paul, Durant, Booker and Ayton all make it to / through the playoffs without injury?

Phoenx and Dallas are the big winners.

Toronto and Milwaukee did well also.

I still think the C's are still much better.

Smart > Paul - At this point Paul looks fried.  Still a decent PG but he no longer has the ability to take over a game.  Smart is an elite defender and above average passer.  He is

Durant = Tatum - this is a wash to me but I wouldn't hate on you if you gave the edge to Durant.

Rob = Ayton - Ayton is the better scorer but Rob is a much better Defender.  If you watch Ayton play you'd think he could be dominant like Embiid.  He just doesn't have that it factor to take over a game.

Brown < Booker but it's close.  Booker is a stud.

Al > Torrey Craig - Different positions but what's left over.

Bench C's win in a landslide.

Lakers big winners.  They got rid of Russ, and gained a shooting PG, a defensive forward, and a shooting forward.  Also managed to get a decent back up center in Bamba.  They are oriented their team to the template that won the bubble championship with size and defense, and hope that they get hot shooting.

Thought Philly did well too getting McDaniels. If we had gotten McDaniels for that cheap a price, we'd have 10 different threads running on him right now.

The Lakers did well with what they had, but they are nowhere near big winners. They made decent role player additions while mortgaging more of their future while many teams in their conference made very big upgrades, particularly the Suns and Mavs.
