I've been wanting a true 3 point specialist on this team for a long time.  I'll be honest, I wasn't too excited about him making the roster at the start of the season.  Thought it might end up being a wasted roster spot.  Didn't look notable in summer league, as meaningless as the summer leagues are.

Hau$er has more than exceeded my expectations.  Not a great defender but moves his feet laterally better than you'd think (just gets screwed on some foul calls, he's the new Theis).  He's exactly the kind of player that thrives with good teammates around him to get him the ball at opportune times.  And he in turn takes pressure off of our stars by providing the spacing.

Hauser is a complimentary player who looks better when he plays better with better players.

Hauser's Marquette team lost to Morant's Murray St. team in the 2019 NCAA tourney.

Nice payback today Sam!

Sam Hauser is the Gordon Hayward we needed  ;D

I know this has been said before many times, but he really does look like Hayward on the court lol. The height, appearance, style of play outside the paint, etc.

I mean, Prime Hayward was a stud. He did a lot of things very well. Sam does one thing well.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yeah but the appearance isn't that far off. Just Hayward's got him beat in the hairstyle/gel

We obviously ended up losing, but I want to give a hat tip to Hauser for that epic shot to put the game into OT last night.  Only a very small percentage of NBA players will ever have a moment like that.

Absolutely.  He is supposed to be only a spot up shooter.  On that play, he "created" his shot off the dribble.  And I loved the way he reacted after.  A little celebration but kept his head in the game.  He continues to far exceed what I thought he would do this season.

This is exactly true for most role players.  The weak link can't be keyed on which highlights their strengths.  If your a good defensive player but can't shoot you need to be the only no shooter on the floor.  Kind of like Timelord.  If it's not a layup or dunk he's not shooting.  Teams know that but it still doesn't effect the team.  The spacing is still great because of his strengths.

With Sam if he's shooting well he's dangerous.  If he's surrounded by good defensive players he can get help.  I was worried with Sam going through that major slump.  If he's not shooting well then he can't play.  When he's shooting well he's a major weapon.

this has been overlooked with Hauser's play this year.  his rebounding, willingness to mix it up under the boards and his defense have gone relatively unnoticed or underappreciated.   he's not all-world on the boards or defense but he's more than serviceable in those regards and when he's shooting well, he's a very solid back up wing for this team.

A lot of people seem to be nitpicking Hauser's defense but I don't actually think he's terrible in that category. I feel like there's also a handful of possessions where he plays good defense but gets a foul called on him because he's Hauser and the opposing player is some star/superstar  ::)

He's not Kornet though who honestly is pretty bad on the defensive end. Hauser's fine there.

I think Hauser could be a nice 8th or 9th man in the playoffs. Just come in, hit some open shots. Just have to hope he doesn't become completely ice cold beyond April

His shot is so smooth.  And he has shown the ability to square up and release quickly. The question I have is his consistency hitting shots when defenders are closing. If he can consistently hit under some duress, his value is high. I like his defensive effort, his rebounding effort, and his ability to hit shots other than from 3.

Prime Hayward was the second coming of Andrei Kirilenko. The ultimate do it all Swing man. Hauser is a nice spot up shooter who I expect will randomly go 6-8 in a home playoff match to win the game.
