I'd be more concerned if he was averaging 40+ mpg over our last 10 or 20 games. Playing heavy minutes in an OT game at home against the team who beat us in the finals that appear to have our #? That's fine with me.

Oh I 100% agree. I didn't mind doing it yesterday. Even Curry played 44 minutes.

BUT in the softer part of our schedules I think we need to be more wary of it. Jaylen's back, now give Tatum some sprinkled rest

I think we can afford to sit him against some of the lowly teams if we have Brown, Brogdon & Smart all fully available.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Tatum is out tomorrow against the Raps. They say it’s “left wrist soreness”, and he has been having trouble with that hand/wrist, but hopefully it really is just load management.

I think it’s just rest. I won’t be surprised though if he doesn’t play vs the Magic as well.

While I agree, winning games allows you to give Tatum rest. Having HCA throughout the playoffs is huge and will pay dividends. I think Boston is only one out of 4 teams in the entire league with a record of .500 or better on the road. 4 teams! The road is tough

There is no reason for a healthy player to not play in games.  Now sure, if the bench was better and he could play 35 minutes instead of 40 minutes, that would be better long term, but if the guy is healthy he should play.

Normally I would take the same stance, but after seeing him in the Finals last season, I think he needs some rest days at some point.

I know he had a proper offseason this time (which he didn’t last season), but some games off in the second half can pay dividends for a deep playoff run.

He’s asked to do so much on both ends of the floor, it’s exhausting.
Tatum was banged up and the Warriors are not a great match-up for him as they have several long quality defenders.  We saw that last night.  I don't think the Finals performance had anything to do with him wearing down (other than the injury).  If a guy is healthy he needs to play.

Several long quality defenders? Their knock is being too small. Nobody on their roster is longer than him that can actually defend him.

His shoulder injury wasn’t to blame for how the Finals ended for him. Fatigue and GSW wearing him down mentally was.

This is a different era and just because players are healthy doesn’t mean they don’t get days off over the course of 82 games. There’s no good reason he shouldn’t. We are up 4 games on everyone else in the East. The Nets will continue to freefall without Durant. Giannis and Middleton are getting days off. The Sixers shouldn’t be a real concern, as I’m sure Embiid and Harden will sit along the way as well.

Udoka played Tatum (and maybe Brown) into the ground last season.
Just because a player is young and entering their prime years doesn't mean you play them 36+ minutes every game.
As we have seen with several players, all those minutes eventually catch up with them. Kemba Walker comes to mind.

I'd prefer to see Tatum and Brown at 28-32 minutes per down the stretch of the regular season.
I have no faith in Mazulla implementing those limits.

I think they'll rest him in one of those back-to-back games (Orlando Monday or Miami Tuesday).

The C's schedule does ease up a bit after Tuesday. They have some winnable games against NYK then LAL, but after that there's a few games where in-between they have 2+ days off, all leading up to the Break

I wouldn't mind resting Tatum this Friday against CHA, then next Wednesday against DET
