Saw this cool moment between Smart and JB on Twitter and thought I would share. It’s clear everyone respects and follows Smart as a leader on the team and that those two have a special bond.

For those without Twitter, it’s a video of JB’s courtside interview with Abby after the game where Smart interrupts him by grabbing JB, smacking him on the chest, and saying: “Big Juice, baby, that’s what I’m talking about it! From now on that’s how you ***** play. I don’t want to see you putting your head down anymore. You’re too good for that, baby!”

Jaylen responds by smiling and laughing the entire time and acknowledging it telling Abby: “You heard it right there.”

It’s clear that this group - particularly Smart and the Jays - have a special bond, with the Jays being the stars/best players but still following Smart as the emotional leader of the group. Really hope these guys get a title here together and stay here for a long time.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

WALTHAM — Celtics guard Marcus Smart on Saturday was fined $5,000 by the NBA for violating anti-flopping rules during Boston’s Game 3 playoff win over the Hawks on Friday.

“I was just trying to make winning plays for my team,” Smart said. “We had a great game last night, that’s really what my focus is on.”

The play occurred with 4 minutes, 32 seconds left in the game, when Atlanta guard Kyle Korver began to box out Smart for a rebound and Smart all but leapt to the ground.

“Danny [Ainge] talked to him a little bit today,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. “I’ll have that conversation at some point with him. But obviously I think the fine is the message. There’s not much more that I’ll be able to say that will be impactful.”

Marcus is my favorite and has been for years.  I hope a few titles are won and I really hope Marcus' number is retired and is up in the rafters someday.

I know he flops, but in the first gif you posted... is he supposed to stay there and take an elbow to the face? Because that's what was going to happen had he stayed there.

Would love to see this happen too.

If JB becomes known as “Big Juice” or “Big Juice Baby,” that buys a lot of goodwill with me. He needs to lighten up, and be more like Marcus/Jayson/Al in his style of play/demeanor instead of doing Kyrie impersonations. Nothing is worse than doing stuff that brings back memories of 2019 Kyrie.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

That was my thought, too. I would have done exactly the same thing in order to save my face. I wouldn't even call that a flop really - at least not in the traditional sense.

Anyway, yeah, Smart is my favorite player on the team and I love that he gets so emotionally hyped. Good stuff as usual by him and the team.
