Guess I'm lower on the Wolves, and KAT than most people.
I don't agree with the sentiment that the Wolves would get more than they gave for Gobert. That's a ridiculous price they paid, but that doesn't really set the market price. Just because some idiot paid $300 for a basketball card worth $30 on Ebay doesn't mean that's the new value of the card. It just means some idiot overpaid.
But another season of Edwards with KAT and Gobert, and the Wolves will not only have emptied their cupboards for a player that doesn't fit with their core, but they will also be souring one of the best young talents and personalities in the NBA, essentially begging him to "quiet quit" until he can request a trade.
I think this trade makes the Wolves better than they currently are, and than any iteration of their current team could be.
I will admit, however, that the Hawks likely need to be giving up more to make it work. Maybe they include Okungwu or Hunter with a 1st round pick.
All of that being said ... this trade idea was sparked at the thought of Trae Young and KAT deserving one another. I almost think the arrogance, unteachableness, passive-aggressiveness, etc. might work together. And there's no doubt that their offensive games would be a spectacular fit. I liked the idea of pairing them with Murray, Griffin, and another defender.
