Paul Silas would be a perfect player to add to this team.  Very solid player in his day.  Sorry to hear he has passed.

Silas and Dave Cowens were a teriffic 4-5 tandem. Cowens was an undersized center who'd run through a brick wall - and could step outside drain a mid range jumper very consistently. Silas' game was in close to the basket. And both were great rebounders.  Keeping in mind this was the era - pre 3 point shot - when bigs were vital to a team's success.

When Silas left for Denver paving the way for the Wicks/Rowe era, that sent the Celtics on their way down the tubes till Red drafted Larry Bird.

I'm sad to hear that Paul Silas has died.  He was my favorite Celtic during the early/mid-70s and I chose his name and a ball card photo of him for my avatar for CelticsStrong.  Paul had a solid career at Creighton were he averaged 20pts and 21reb for four years. He started as a power forward on three NBA championship teams, two with the Celtics.  He made the NBA All-Def team five times, three with the Celtics.  While I never met him, his public persona was that of a good, decent man.  May he rest in peace and his memory be a blessing.

He was a beast on the court.  Huge part of some great Celtics teams and a long excellent career as a coach too.

RIP.

Yeah he was a key contributor to mid-70’s Cs and 2 rings.
Silas was Golden.

He was an oak tree of a man.   He had a body way ahead of his time.   The final piece in the Cowens, Havlicek and Sam Jones era that put us over the top.

He put the power into the concept of power forward!

May he RIP!
