Hopefully he’ll be selected to an all-NBA team this year and we’ll be good.

When he stops turning the ball over with his poor dribble execution. Other than that, his scoring is exceptional. If he can practice with dribbles and FTs that be great. Can't comment on his political stuff.

I don’t want to talk about TMZ/Twitter BS. Purely basketball- what does Brown have to do to garner respect from Celtics fans on the court? In my eyes, he’s already earned my respect.

Who doesn't respect what he's done as a player? All I see/hear is fans going nuts for him all the time.

If we continue to stay at or near the top of the league standings, he'll almost certainly be an all-star again.

I think the vast majority do appreciate what JB means to this Celtics team. He’s having an incredible year and him and JT are the best duo in the NBA.

I’m not sure. Some preferred Kris Dunn/Marquesse Chriss and now some prefer Buddy Hield/John Collins. I’m not trying to pick on Moranis here as he’s being honest. I’ve heard many others criticize Jaylen and I’m trying to figure out the basketball related reasons.

Off the court, I’ve heard fans say that they think he has too many other interests. Others didn’t like the choice of a liberal school like Cal. Others didn’t like his hair.

Some preferred Kris Dunn 7 years ago when neither had played a single NBA minute. How is that relevant to anything now?

I remembered it being noteworthy when Jaylen was drafted and Wyc was booed. Did this happen to our other first round picks?

Do you not remember people being very upset about trading away #1 and a sure thing like Fultz?  And then Phoenix swindling Ainge out of the chance to draft Josh Jackson?  A lot of people weren't happy about Tatum, thought he was the 4th best prospect.  Here's some interesting reading:

Me critiquing the fit of Brown and Tatum is not disrespect or not appreciating Brown.  Brown is a great player.  Will and should be an all star and if he continues like he has, will and should make his first All NBA Team.  But it also goes without saying he is not as good or as important as Tatum and he never will be.
Brown is 8-9 in the playoffs w/o Tatum.
Tatum is 1-4  in the playoffs w/o Brown.

We don't get there if Tatum doesn't play good to great.
I'm not sure we get there even then, unless JB is goof to great.

If you believe JB makes us a little bit better, that's the difference.

Tatum -MVP
Brown - Finals MVP

A segment of the fanbase thought improving the team meant trading JB+assets for whoever tickled their fancy at the time.

I got irritated by the trade suggestions and petty criticism, but I realized everyone here is just trying to win and they’re misguided in how to do so.

The 2018 run convinced me that there was something special with this group. We had a 19 and 20 year old spearheading the scoring on a team en route to the Eastern Conference Finals, defeating Giannis and Middleton, Embiid and Simmons, and taking a still prime Lebron to 7 games.

It has never been done before nor since in a league with 75 years of history. The success they’ve had after that has only encouraged me (who leads their team to the Conference Finals before 25?). By the time they appreciate, we’ll have a Championship.

I’m with you.  Other than turnovers that can be agonizing at times, JB seems to me to be universally loved by Celtics fans on the court.  I don’t understand why anyone would be anti-JB as a player.  He continually improves his game.  Hard worker and terrific 2-way player.  His mid-range shot is amazing. He finishes with poise and confidence (didn’t always), has become a good long range shooter. Can’t ask for much more than he provides.  I understand the thought that there might be a better fit with Tatum but not really sure who that would be. I’d trade JB only for a top ten player and not without a lot of thought.

To be fair, his FT percentage is quite respectable this year, around 83% I believe.

He still needs to cut down on bad turnovers and dribbling into some bad situations, but I think every player has there issues. He definitely brings enough to the table that it’s worth putting up with. Love him as a player and on this team

Jaylen just sold out a charity event at the Boston MFA with an average ticket cost of $500. Donnie Wahlberg and Boston's biggest promoter helped pub, Grant Williams and Blake Griffin are MCing, and he runs a successful clothing brand with a retail location in Seaport. The last time he made an appearance at said shop, people started lining up at 5am to meet him, and the line wait was over 3 hours long the entire day. Jaylen regularly organizes philanthropic events in local communities,  the most recent was attended by Mayor Michelle Wu.

You find what you're looking for. Jaylen Brown is incredibly appreciated in Boston. To not notice that is to be looking for slights.

He's been appreciated by this guy since well before the draft when we took him.  He was always my choice and was thrilled when Danny drafted him, although there were many who weren't.

I agree.  When you look at his stats year to year for his FT% he is doing EXACTLY what we want a young rising player to do - improve almost every single year at multiple things.  This is exactly what he has done with his FT shooting.

Jaylens FT %s over the last 6 years.  Believe me this kind of improvement isn't an accident.  JB is putting in the time.
2017-18  64.4 %
2018-19  65.8%
2019-20  72.4%
2020-21  76.4%
2021-22  75.9%
2022-23  83.2%
