I’m worried wondering is he gonna play with that brace on ,  I get a knee wrap , but for me a brace is a piece of hardware and support for a weak component.  Limited speed and movement ?  Hurts my confidence just thinking about it.  I guess I’m over reacting as usual.  ;D

He pushes off more with right and favors using the right as he moves away ,  doesn’t look exactly right to me. I wonder if he can sprint down court  ?  Not a one legged skip run  ?  8)

The brace are for safety. He said he cant wait to have them off and have his full range of motion so I think what youre seeing is mostly coz of the brace. Its gonna be gradual easing him on the court. Dont expect that they suddenly remove all precautions with him or that he instanly good as new.

I could be wrong, as I think they rushed him back in the playoffs, but that was the playoffs.
I can see absolutely no reason for his return until they are 100% certain he’s ready. It’s not like they need him back right away.

If that’s the case ,  I d still rather have him wait another 1-2 months and just continue to practice with team and strengthen the knee more .   Come back the last 20-30 games of the year .

Hard to fathom the doctors wanting him in an NBA full court game with that huge brace thing on.

In that interview, Woj also hinted the Celtics are currently looking for a big man, before the February trade deadline.

I wire hope so.  Kornet, Blake and Vonleh are not the answer, although Kornet has been much better than expected.

Agreed.  I'm pleasantly surprised by Kornet, and Blake has a role both as a fill-in and as a team leader.  Vonleh and Jackson are just dead weight.

Well he may get more than the 30 games or so I was projecting if he does come back that early, but I'm still expecting not more than 3 out of 5 games from him, given what the injury was and his general propensity for missing games.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I am starting to think about this a little differently.  At a minimum, they should not bring him back until the knee is fully healed and all of the impacted muscles around the knee are back in shape.  I am not sure where he stands relative to this but Doctors, Trainers, the player, should be able to determine when he is at this point.  Once he is fully healed and reconditioned, I would generally say start to play him.  There is no reason to wait just to say give it another week or another month to heal.  He is either ready to play or he isn't.

But I am starting to wonder if the concern is that the knee is only going to hold up for some limited number of games.  That even though he is healed and reconditioned, that there is still some damage or vulnerability to wear and tear.  We will be 36 games in at the end of December.  That leaves 46 regular season and likely around 25 playoff games.  That is likely 81 games.  Even with taking off back to backs or whatever, could they be trying to work this by thinking OK, the knee is only going to hold up for 50 games at best so don't start him until regular season game 50 or something (instead of RS game 37). Is that really going to make any difference?

I keep coming back to if he is healed and reconditioned, play him.  Be sensible about managing his minutes (no back to backs, etc.) but you got to play him.  If his knee doesn't hold up, it doesn't hold up.  If you try to limit him to 60 games or 50 games over 80 games, his knee still might not hold up.

If they can find another big that can play at screen level defending pick and roll that would be a nice upgrade, but that kind of player isn’t so easy to find. And hopefully with Rob back he’d be our third big. So if they’re able to find someone under those constraints I’ll be surprised.
