Mike has earned it.   I wish him the best thought I will miss him.  No one has ever displayed his knack of talking just the right amount.   He also never talks about himself unless asked.   One of kind announcer.

As likable and real a play by play guy ever.  Should be in basketball hall of fame.

Oops… he’s in the HOF.

Mike's one of the great ones, and I'll miss him whenever he's no longer calling games.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

An update on this.  '23-24 will be his final season per Jared Weiss

Mike Gorman will be back for one last season as the voice of the Celtics. This is the story behind his decision to stick around for another shot at a banner.

I’ve had the chance to meet Mike Gorman on several occasions. One of my favorite moments of all time: after a game in 2007 my dad walked me down on the court (I was 14) and just started a conversation with Mike. They talked about the glory days and how my dad wanted me to see what Celtics greatness was all about and how the last few years have been tough. Mike winked and said he thinks they’ll turn it around. That summer we got KG and Ray and the rest is history.

I’ll never forget how kind Mike was to me when I was a kid. I met him last year too and had a very brief interaction but I told him how much I appreciate him. He truly is a legendary announcer and an even better man. It’s going to be really weird not hearing him call games after this season- let’s send him into retirement with another banner.

Hope the replacement is Grande. And I hope they pair him with Maxwell so we don’t have to listen to Scalabrine anymore. Listening to Scal is like nails on a chalkboard.

Scal has grown on me. I find him very knowledgeable.  Grande has to adjust to TV. He talks too much.  Gorman a man of few words, from Pat Summeral school of TV broadcasting. Less is more.

Pat Summeral is a great comparison.  One of the most enjoyable things about listening to Mike for me is that he’s very even keel.  He doesn’t get over emotional when calling the game, whether it’s good or bad things happening.  No stupid catch phrases or one liners.  He just calls the game.

No disrespect to Tommy, but I never enjoyed him all that much, so when they started phasing him out, it didn’t bother me all that much.  Mikes a different story.  It’s going to suck watching games without him calling it

I love Mike Gorman the man and the announcer.  So many great memories, but he has definitely lost his fastball.  Definitely the right time to move on.

What a career.
Yup

Scal is alright in the colour role, but when made to do play-by-play (like when he would occasionally commentate with Eddie House) it was very rough

I know I'm in the minority, but I absolutely hated the times Grande did the TV broadcast. Dude talked about anything and everything except the actual game. He just likes to hear himself talk. And please no Max either. Scal is passable as an analyst but has tons of room to improve. But I'd rather listen to Doris and Stan than Grande.

I think Grande issue is being a radio guy who got to keep talking because the entire experience is through your voice but on TV you are there just to compliment the game. I like Grande on the radio a lot but the pairing of him and Scal on TV was pretty rough for me.
ok fine

Yeah I agree, I don’t really like Grande. I also just find him to be an apologist who is always condescendingly sharing reasons why fans can’t be critical of anything the Celtics organization has ever done. I get he’s an employee and we are a top organization in sports, but there is fair criticism out there and sometimes Scal has to point this out.

I find Scal to be pretty cringe tbh. I like the combo of Grande and Max. I guess I’m in the minority here.
