Favorite:
Inception
Difficult to say but Inception just beats out the Dark Night. Probably my favorite film that I've ever seen in theaters.

Dark Horse:
The Prestige
Incredible film. I try to put time in between rewatching it since it loses it's wonder if you know what's going to happen but the Bale - Jackman rivalry is one of the best I've ever seen in a movie.

Most challenging:
Memento
Saw it in college years back and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Showed it to my wife last year and we just kind of thought it was alright. The performances are good but the pacing is brutal.

Least Favorite:
Interstellar or Dunkirk
Dunkirk had it's moments (loved the bridge scene) but things were a bit overdramatic and the nature of the story doesn't really lend itself too well to film. I saw it on a plane so maybe it would have been more engrossing in theater.

Interstellar was a disappointment since I was really excited for the film but it felt like a worse Contact with a way bigger budget.

Favorite:  The Dark Knight

Least Favorite:  The Dark Knight Rises

I've never seen Following.  Of the Nolan movies I have seen, the only one I didn't think was good, or at least interesting, was The Dark Knight Rises.

In terms of narrative structure, probably.  But I find Dark Knight to be more enjoyable, mostly because Ledger was so excellent in it.  And, I think Dark Knight Rises would have been much better if Ledger hadn't died, because I think Nolan had a plan for a Joker follow up that we never got to see.  Dark Knight Rises is what happens when a writer / director is forced to make something, rather than truly having a passion for it.

no question that Ledger was awesome, but that movie isn't actually a good movie.  It was too big, too bloated, tried to do to much, and frankly aside from Ledger and Bale (and of course Caine) the acting wasn't very good.

Christopher Nolan's latest film sounds really exciting - he's filming an adaptation of the Odyssey. Matt Damon has been confirmed as Odysseus.

The rest of the cast is a who-s who of acting talent:

Quote
So far, the cast for ?The Odyssey? includes Damon, Tom Holland (?Spider-Man: No Way Home?), Zendaya (?Challengers?), Robert Pattinson (?The Batman?), Lupita Nyong?o (?Black Panther?), Anne Hathaway (?The Devil Wears Prada?), Charlize Theron (?Mad Max: Fury Road?), Benny Safdie (?Oppenheimer?), Jon Bernthal (?The Walking Dead?), Elliot Page (?Juno?), Himesh Patel (?Yesterday?), Bill Irwin (?Legion?), Samantha Morton (?Minority Report?) and Mia Goth (?Pearl?).

Production starts end of February, for a planned release of July 17 2026.

Favourite: Inception

Love: Batman Trilogy, Memento, Intersteller, Prestige, Oppenheimer

Like: Dunkirk

Dislike: Superman movie

Haven't seen: Tenet

I got scared off the Tenet movie based on the reviews. I didn't think it was one I would enjoy. I will try it at some point but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I actually really liked Tenet but it is a very hard movie to understand. I have seen it a few times and still get lost at times. Nolan does a great job with the action and cinematography with music and everything. Really excellent movie.

I'll freely admit I still don't fully understand it  :police:

Personally, I cant stand most his movies.

"Oppenheimer" bored me stiff. I actually had more fun reading about Robert Oppenheimer than I did watching that movie.

"Inception" and "Interstellar" were absolutely exhausting experiences. If I wasn't with a group of people I would have walked out halfway through both. Ive never seen such convoluted ideas put on screen in my life.

I've never seen "The Dark Knight." The whole Super Hero thing never did it for me as a kid let alone as a grown adult man.

Perhaps one day ill give "Memento" and "The Prestige" a try, but with very tempered expectations given past disappointments with Nolan movies.

I will say that "Dunkirk" was a great theater experience, but not sure how well it would hold up watching it on a standard television, unless surround sound is available.

I also love "Insomnia." Outstanding crime thriller. Plus, it's pretty hard to miss the mark when you have Al Pacino and Robin Williams, two of the greatest actors of their generation.

A couple good ones but overall I think he is criminally overrated and I just dont really find his movies enjoyable. No way does he deserve to be mentioned in the same breath alongside titans of modern filmmaking like Scorcese, Tarantino, and Soderbergh. Seems like an interesting and intelligent guy, though.
