When he first signed here he made it a point to say everyone welcomed him and that wasn't "common" in his latest stops.

Also made a point after practice to state how everyone is serious and locked in and that no one has to tell them to be focused like "other teams"

Maybe he's not but has to make you think he's talking about the team lead by Kyrie/Durant. Which isn't surprising. Just look at how they acted this summer.

He sure is.  Perhaps he's not exclusively aiming at the Nets, but they're one of his focuses.

I suspect that his comments are largely directed at the Nets but I think there is more to it than just that.  The Celtics really are a focused team, not just compared to the Nets.  Griffin has been on three other teams before the Celtics.  He has a good perspective.  I think what he is saying is important.  If it was only that we are more serious or more locked in than the Nets, that wouldn't be saying much.  He is picking up that the Celtics have a winning attitude.  Not a surprise to us fans but it is good to hear it from Griffin.  I think it helps the players to hear it from Griffin as well.  Can't take that for granted.  Need to keep it up every day.

Apparently others feel the same way:

“I think the intensity and maturity level of this group is off the charts,” Griffin said. “Every day when we get to work it’s intense. It’s not that we’re going forever but these guys are locked in and no one has to tell us to be locked in. It’s refreshing.”

Keep in mind that this team mindset isn't just by accident.  The team has been built with players that have that level of maturity and professionalism.  Probably why Blake Griffin is on the team and not Dwight Howard or Cousins (at least so far).

Blake should actually be a perfect veteran presence for the team.  Like Horford is.  They are not the best players on the team, they have their roles, but seem OK with that.  We'll see how well Griffin's body holds up.  That is the issue of course.  But so far, I like the leadership.

My impression of him is based largely on the playoff series with the Nets last season.  He played decent at times.  It appeared to me that he just got gassed very quickly.  He had only played 6 total minutes in April prior to Game 3 (8 min) and Game 4 (18 min).  Not sure what was going on but he was not in game shape.  Like they threw him out there as an afterthought, out of desperation.

Hopefully the Celtics can get him physically ready.

Remember all those years where almost every player on the bench was a rookie or had maybe 2 or 3 years of "bench experience"?  This is what we were missing.  Players who had perspective that others looked up to...leadership.  Its easier to have it when you've been there.

As much as I'd like to think he's just bashing the Nets, I think it's possible he's combining his negative experiences on both the Nets and Pistons.

I have to think the Nets couldn't have been too bad, he did voluntarily re-sign there (though the circus seemed to be 100x worse in Brooklyn in '22 than '21).

Will always remember this infamous Pistons' clip.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

He was on a team with Kyrie Irving and James Harden/Ben Simmons last year.  Does anyone think those guys are locked in all of the time?  Nothing to see here.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I'd say James Harden was hence why he left them. Ya forgot to mention the diva Kevin Durant. Skill and talent wise he's exceptional but behavior ehhh idk.

You know the tension , Divaness ,  snobbery,  is at a max level on any team Irving or LeBron is on .  I would dread being part of the Nets no matter the pay.   Probably gets to star guys like him too.  I don’t even think Doc would want that job…..with that group.
