Let's neither get to carried away with either great expectations or certainty of failure with Kornet. He should still be only a top 13 man in the rotation and third string center. If Mazz forces him into something more because of injuries, perhaps expectations of "He kinda held his own" are probably best and if he outplays those expectations....great.
some of the exaggerated sentiment arose from seeing him with the first team work outs before ankle sprain. It is conceivable that Joe was tinkering with the idea of staying with the double big starting line up in some cases, and using Luke as the Rob Williams substitute. Would not shock me to see us try that against certain matchups (e.g. Cavs).
That seemed to be the idea. If you start Kornet, then Grant and others can stay in their roles as back ups (also White or Brogdon). So when RWill comes back, less has to change. Kornet just goes to the bench. No big deal. Not sure that is still going to be the plan. We'll see on Friday I guess.
There is probably not that much difference between Kornet, Vonleh, or Griffin, if they decide to start 2 bigs. He would know the sets and schemes the best. They may also decide to go with the smaller unit and just accept that when RWill comes back, some roles will change.
