You've got to love any basketball that's being played...

I wish they would put some of the better FIBA qualifying matches on ESPN. There was a great game between Serbia and Greece the other day and we only get to see the highlights. Giannis and Jokic were going to war..

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Every Eurobasket game will be on ESPN+.  It’s practically free if you bundle it with Disney+.  Israel plays Finland on Friday at 9 am ET, if I made the time zone conversion correctly, so we can watch Yam then.

EDIT: My ESPN app says 7:50 am.

Yeah, he'd still be in college... JD Davison might make Yam superfluous...

Don’t know if anyone else found the time to watch Yam in Eurobasket, but he’s definitely got legit NBA talent.  I have no idea why his coach barely played him their first game (7 minutes, and I don’t remember seeing him in the second half), but his last four games he averaged 16.5/1.8/3.8 with ridiculous shooting splits of 61/55/90, and a near 2:1 assist-turnover ratio, that would have been a lot better if his teammates could actually finish some of the easy looks he gave them.

His defense was solid too — he was very aggressive on ball, but not in a way that got him into foul trouble, and he did reasonably well at ball-denial when he got switched onto bigs that weren’t named Jokic.  I’m not sure what his future is in Boston with Smart, Brogdon, and White here, but I do think he’d be at least as good as Pritchard when he comes over.

He was pretty overwhelmed in summer league in 2021, while Pritchard was a stud. Hard to believe he is now at same level. I doubt that.

He was 20 when you saw him in summer league, while Pritchard was 23 on the same team.  I didn’t say he’s as good now, I said I think he’ll be as good when he comes over, which will be next year at the earliest, when he’ll be 22 going on 23, and more likely the following season.

He looked a lot less overwhelmed against better competition the last week than he did that week in Vegas.

How long does a team maintain rights to a drafted player?

Until he signs, for the most part.
