Tests confirmed #Patriots QB Mac Jones suffered a "pretty severe" high ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the #Ravens, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

The hope is Jones won't need surgery. Timetable still TBD but hard to imagine he plays this week vs. the #Packers.

The Patriots emasculated and embarrassed Jones in the Bils game last year and he hasn't been the same since. When the team has so little faith in you that they refuse to throw the ball, it is devastating for your confidence especially as a rookie.

Here comes 1-3, and it'll probably get worse before it gets better.

I have a grade 2 high ankle sprain from playing tennis and that was about 5 weeks ago. Its still not even close to 100%. Did RICE and now rehab. It was painful, but I could walk on it. Can’t imagine that Mac Will be back in less than 6 weeks even with a the best medical treatment. He couldn’t even put weight on it. Ligaments take a long time to heal…

As a Bama fan, I think you're underestimating Jones' confidence.  He signed to go to Bama which had Hurts as the starting QB and 5-star Tua already signed to go to Bama.  He then stuck with Bama after Tua showed he was the real deal.  He then led Bama to the undefeated championship against a 10-game all-SEC regular season schedule.  Jones does not lack confidence.  He just need some good coaching and good talent around him and some time to develop.

Look at Tua.  He not only had bad coaching and a lack of talent his first couple seasons in the NFL.  He had a coach who was actively against him.  Change the coach, bring in some talent and Tua is playing a lot better.

High ankle sprain is what Hayward had his last year where he missed all that time before the Finals and they brought him back too early because we were on the verge of losing to Miami and he looked a shadow of his former self. Mac's not going to be playing anytime soon if that's what he has.

Lord have mercy, for what Rodgers and the Packers are about to do against NE and Hoyer this Sunday...  :(

What sucks is this game is CBS' primetime game with Nantz-Romo. OOF...

Have you looked at the numbers?

In the 12 games before that game Mac's main numbers

70.34%, 16 TD's, 8 INT's, with a 97.1 passer rating and the Patriots were 8-4.

In the 4 regular season games after the Bills game

59.85%, 6 Td's, 5 INT's with a 79.7 passer rating and the Patriots were 1-3 (and the 1 which was a  3 TD/0 INT game was the awful post-Meyer Jaguars when the Pats scored 50).

In the playoff game

63.16%, 2 TD's, 2 INT's with a 75.8 passer rating

Thus far this season

65.98%, 2 TD's, 5 INT's with a 76.2 passer rating and the Patriots are 1-2

The simple reality is, since the Patriots threw the ball 3 times against the Bills, Mac Jones has looked like an entirely different QB and the team went from winning 2 out of 3 games to winning just 1 in 4 games.  Now sure maybe that is just a coincidence and has absolutely no correlation at all, or maybe just maybe embarrassing your QB on national tv might not be the thing to do.

Moranis, another bad Patriots take. They let Mac rip the ball yesterday. If anything, he was too loose and should have been reigned in. Basically, the opposite of what you’re saying.

Btw- you said Bill is not a good GM. Who is a better GM?

This. If anything he was overly confident yesterday and it cost the team.

Mac was fine (and fine is not good or anything, not like he was last year) in the first half and first part of the 2nd half.  Once the Patriots went down by a TD or more, they were forced to throw more (or were in clearly passing situations like the INT at 3rd and 10) and it becomes very clear that the Patriots OL and WR's aren't good enough for them to be a pure passing team.  That is where not having an elite pass catcher kills the Patriots.  Even if it the guy was a TE, like Andrews, it would make a huge difference.  The Patriots receivers just aren't good enough.  The OL just isn't good enough to withstand a defense that knows the Patriots are passing.

But even with all that if the Agholor doesn't fumble or the Patriots defense would have actually stopped the Ravens after that fumble, the Pats could have won that game.  I mean Baltimore went 73 yards in 2 and a half minutes to basically end the game.

Ultimately though, Mac and the team have clearly been different since the 3 pass game against the Bills last year.  Their record and numbers bear that out.

What’s the point of that last post? He played well or he was emasculated?

I disagree that they have been different. They’re just not that good, which is ok. I do think it’s got to be fun for you to fling poop now after the last 20 years. Kind of weasel like, but I’m sure it’s fun.

Jags or not, he was so rattled by his national TV appearance against the Bills (which was played under horrendous wind conditions), that he went out and put out a 128.1 QB rating with 3 TDs, zero INTs on 200+ yards passing a few weeks later?

If there was any trend here, wouldn't he have showed being rattled right off the bat in the remaining 4 games of the season? So distraught being so soon removed from the BUF game? The team still had him throwing the ball 35 times a game around a 60% clip so it wasn't exactly like the team tossed the passing game out the window.  That's not showing a lack of confidence in the kid.

You're just making up narratives to troll the Pats fans on here.
