Still think Brown wants to be the guy. He’s never going to be the guy in Boston.
I agree with this. Unless this team changes this year and he gets more say I am sure he will listen to other team's offers. Nets are a great opportunity right now for him if they go rebuild. JB could get 30 shots a night and lead the league in scoring.

What do you mean by more say? Brad has said he speaks with the Jays and Smart about moves and things of that nature. Jaylen has said Brad consulted them about Ime before hiring him. Ime has made it a point to say that he and Tatum are pillars of the franchise. I've never gotten the impression that management doesn't involve him.

Yeah, for example just this month Brad told Tatum, Brown, and Smart about the Brogdon trade before it broke.  I guess that’s different than having Jaylen help make the decisions, but he’s definitely given treatment that says he is a team leader/cornerstone, and equal to Tatum in that regard.

JB tweeted out, “SMH” about an hour and a half ago

He also posted an IG story from Spain around the same time too. Maybe he's going to leave the NBA to join the Spanish League?

You mock me, but ESPN just covered it 😉

There’s no way Woj and or Shams go to print with this without confirmation on both sides. So this is real, and to me the concern is that Jaylen, who just signed with Kanye West, has made it clear he wants to be the man somewhere else.

Unless Jaylen is already signaling he won’t extend, this is just a malicious rumor.

The Celtics rebuffed trading an undeveloped, pre-All Star, pre-20+ PPG Jaylen to trade him at 25, just entering his prime plus additional assets for a 35 year old, injury prone KD?

We’re already the preseason favorites to win the title and have seen teams with superior depth and chemistry start to dominate the shallower star driven teams, but we’re trying to trade our superior depth and chemistry for a shallower star driven team?

It’s laughable. The fact that Woj reported this means that the Nets leaked false info on a slow news day and dried up KD trade market to try to get under Jaylen’s skin and cause a rift in the team.

Can you think of an example where both Woj and Shams were wrong in something that they reported?  Obviously, both carry water for front offices and agents, but they also have a vested interest in being reliable.  If they printed outright lies, I think that there would be backlash.
I didn’t question Woj and Shams agenda, I questioned their source’s agenda. Their Nets sources can feed them any intel and all they can do to verify is question another source. Woj wound up with egg on his face from the Nets-Harden/Sixers fiasco because his Nets sources were giving him the info that they wanted reported, not what was actually happening.

The report states that the Celtics offer of JB+Assets for KD was rejected and the Nets counteroffer was rejected. This is a Nets leak, info that they want reported.

For the reasons I mentioned in the previous post, unless JB quietly signaled to Brad that he’s unwilling to sign an extension, the Celtics wouldn’t even entertain a KD for JB+Assets trade.

Not sure I like all of this JB trade talk. Reminds me of how Ainge always had Ray Allen in trade talks, so then Ray bolted when he had the chance. Durant's a great talent but is older now, doesn't have many great years left. Giving up Brown and a boatload of picks/swaps seems like a "win now at the expense of later" move.

It's real that Brooklyn leaked this. Both Woj and Shams are used by franchises all the time to stir up more offers or get more leverage.

This is the first time it's been reported the team is willing to trade him. Even when we were rumored to inquire about Simmons and Harden, it's always come with the "but the Celtics are unwilling to include Jaylen Brown in talks" disclaimer.

The team can't control made up fan trade scenarios on Reddit and CelticsStrong. They'd have to hire someone just to deal with Greenly's ideas.

If the Celtics could and had offered Ray the max they could and 60 million more than than the next closest team was able to be the #1b option on a title favorite I bet he comes back.

Buy-low on 10/10/22, less than a dozen weeks from now when Gallo becomes available to trade:

BOS In: KD
BKN In: JB, Gallinari, filler, multiple picks/swaps

If JB has aspirations of being the King of New York, it’s not a bad bet by Brooklyn, especially if they end up stuck with Kyrie and he tells them he’ll about face if they bring in JB. A core of JB/Kyrie/Simmons and a bunch of picks is not so bad.

Meanwhile, we head into the season with these nine-man rotations and a legend in KD that JT can further model in taking his game to the next level:

Smart/Brogdon/Pritchard
D-White/Brogdon/Pritchard
Tatum/Batman/Brogdon
KD/Horford/Batman
Timelord/Horford/Batman

The above is called banners 18, 19, …

banners 18, 19 ....... probably - but if and only if Durant doesn't turn the locker room upside down with his fragile whims.
I've had no respect for this guy since he bailed on OKC to join the team he just blew a 3-1 series lead to.
Rivaled only by Lebron's cowardly move to Miami for low basketball character.

Don’t do it. We have depth, a top 10 player, and a top 30 player. Both are young.

We want to trade that depth for another top 10 (not top 5) player that has been hard to please? Are we trying to become the Lakers, who are challenged by their lack of depth and are restricted to make moves because of their aging players under contract?

Did you guys think that KD’s performance this year was worth it? He looked old. Still a great shooter.

Exactly. Aging, injury prone, vulnerable to physical defense and most of all as you said, hard to please.

Your comparison to the Lakers situation is right - Do we want to paint ourselves into the same corner ?

I'm sure it's real. Whether it's possible or probable is the big question.

I'm not 100% buying it. I'm sure there was a call, to kick the tires in June, they probably asked what they thought the C's would have to send over and they said, Brown and White. And they came back "nah, Brown,White,Smart" and Stevens hangs the phone up.

I have a feeling if they were going to do it it would have been before the TPE expired so they could snag a couple players. Cause any move for KD going to leave the team short handed and the FA market is drying up.

You pretty much have to do the trade now.  Brown, Smart, PP or GW, 25 1st, 27 1st, 29 1st (top 4) for Durant, Curry

That makes a lot of sense for winning a title in the next 2 years

Too much.

Timelord / Horford
Durant / Gallinari
Tatum /
Curry / White
Brogdon / Pritchard

That’s an extremely talented roster, but it’s the roster we’d be stuck with, with no real avenues to upgrade.
Disagree. It is a 3 for 2 and future picks.  If doing a 3 for 2 leaves the team to shallow it really underscores how much of a blunder not using the big TPE was.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I think our corner would be even worse. LA can restock just by signing a couple of free agents who decide that they want to go to Los Angeles. Not so much demand to live in Boston.
