Thinking about this some more: Cannot help but wonder if in LeBron’s mind it’s racist for a Celtics fan to point out how he’s not the greatest player of all-time—that’s MJ—and he’s not even the greatest Laker of all-time—that’s Kareem or Magic?
He’s the greatest Cavalier of all-time. Isn’t that special? When LeBron retires, and that day is coming soon, everyone will shift to talking about whether MJ or Giannis (or someone else who’s the best in the world at the time) is GOAT. Your time’s almost up, LeBron. Too bad, so sad.
Regarding LeBron’s comments about Brittney Griner, whom I madly respect and feel great sympathy for: It’s an absolute tragedy—it’s absolutely shocking people did not advise her of the risks of playing basketball in a country run by oligarchs. You do business with bad people, don’t be surprised if something bad happens someday? LeBron ought to pay attention to that axiom next time he wants to consider expanding his business interests in Communist China. Some of us want nothing to do with modern-day slave owners, which is what the upper echelon of the Communist Party of China is. Just because they’ve contracted out the slave labor to seemingly civilized people in the West (certainly many people in denial about what the label “Made in China” ultimately represents because all they want to see is $$$), it does not mean we should not call it what it is, right?
We always hear about America’s past of slavery in the 19th century and earlier, but perhaps it’s time to talk about 21st century slavery in Communist China? Perhaps it’s time to talk about why it’s not right to profit off slave labor in the 2020s? How about it, LeBron?
