I've got a few words on Nesmith - ten, actually.

Cole Anthony
Isaiah Stewart
Saddiq Bey
Tyrese Maxey
Precious Achiuwa

I liked Nesmith; he was the guy I was rooting for.  I thought the Celts would take Maxey, and my second choice was Bey.

But, the only major regret I have with that pick is that we didn't trade up to get Haliburton.  I'd love to know whether we tried, and how much we offered.

It is funny that my impression of him heading into the draft was that he was a natural shooter but maybe not that great of an athlete.  It turns out he was just the opposite.  He is clearly an NBA level athlete but so far has not developed the required shooting touch and court awareness.

I think Indy got a good prospect.  I still see a lot of Avery Brown in him.  It took Avery several seasons to figure it out but he finally did and had a nice run as an NBA starter.  Nesmith may not quite hit Avery Brown ceiling but I think it is realistic for him to be in the neighborhood.

I’m glad Ainge is gone mainly because he sucked at drafting

sigh...as has been shown, demonstrated, and backed up with evidence many times in many threads, Ainge was at least an above average drafter when compared to other GMs.

i wish this tired and trite narrative would disappear. this is like when posters repeatedly stated that Doc does not play rookies...and ignored the playing time of rondo and others as rookies.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Other than Smart, Brown, Tatum, Timelord, GWill, Pritchard...  (Big Al, Perk, Rondo, Tony, Delonte, Gomes, BBD, Powe, Bradley, Sullinger, Rozier...)

The only thing i can say bout this topic is if we had Saddiq Bey instead of Nesmith we would be champs by now.

It was the bench that pulled a houdini on us in the Finals plus Tatum laying an egg the whole series.

Nesmith is a bust and there is no way this guy is ever goin to be a significant player in the future..in fact if in his first season in Indiana and he still doesnt figure it out he will be headed the James Young career path...aka out of the league in a jiffy.

Tatum was tired by the Finals and even if you put Bey there, the bench problem would still persist. Young and inexperienced players tend not to do well in high pressure situations. Even the Warriors' Kaminga didn't get that many minutes in the Finals.

I agree. He’s terrible ( at the nba level) . Not a good shooter even.

I hope the move to Indiana helps him figure it out because I don't think it was going to happen in Boston. He seems like a hard-working guy and always brought a ton of energy but he was supposed to be a shooter and never looked like one here.

That said, I won't be surprised at all if he hits 5 threes in a game against Boston next season. And if he does, I'll be happy for him.

I would take this bet in a heartbeat, that he won't

The Celtics got incredibly lucky with the Brooklyn picks and incredibly unlucky with those Sacramento/Memphis picks. If that Grizzlies team had just been a little bit worse...
