Awesome! Himmelsbach also confirming.

Brad did what Ainge couldn't for many years, finally grab Gallinari

I do like the move a lot though. He may have his flaws particularly on the defensive end, but he's a great scorer off the bench and that's what we needed. We didn't lose the Finals because of defense, it's because we also couldn't score, particularly the bench.

Not sure how anyone could look at this as anything other than a small bench upgrade. Depth helps and Galinari can contribute. Of course he isn’t on his own THE guy…. but he adds something.  If the DG report is accurate then it’s about who else CBS gets .

This is a great value signing.  Good use of the MLE.   But I agree with this from Neurotic Guy.  I think some fans will need to temper their expectations if they are expecting more than a bench upgrade from Gallinari.  Nothing wrong with upgrading the bench at a fair price.  And I agree that this is a good fit for him over ATL.  I like the signing.  Never expected Gallinari would be available in this way.

Now maybe we sign Thomas Bryant with a MIN contract (this season's Jabari Parker) and then go on the hunt for TPE trades.  We still need a bench wing.

I feel like this is going to be a Jason Terry / Michael Finley type signing. Hope and excited quickly squashed out by the realization that you are signing an old man whose wheels have fallen off.

Sign Bryant to a minimum. Trade a protected first that will likely convey to two seconds for Heurter into the trade exception. Send Theis to OKC with a second for Kenrich Williams.

While it helps the bench it doesn't move the needle in regards to winning a championship.  The C's need more then a guy who can fill in minutes during the regular season but may not get much run during the playoffs because he can't play a lick of D.  I'd rather have had Warren or Divi.

Add Bryant on the vet minimum and use the TPE

Yep.  That's the big play.

If they can add Bryant, then they should move on from Theis also, unless you plan to have him as your 6th big man.

They might keep him for depth.  No need to move him now, especially with Bryant being a question mark.

My dream is Theis + Nesmith + Pritchard + #1 for Barnes, but that's not going to happen at this point.

I don't think the wheels have fallen off.  After a slow start, he basically averaged 13 ppg the rest of the year.  That's helpful.

He's not that old - 34 in August.

On the brighter side, Gallo provides good contrast to G Will as the backup PF. Allows BOS to go with a more offensive minded option when G Will's defense is not called for. This will offer useful lineup flexibility.

I expect diminished returns from G Will / Gallo as they are more competitors for playing time than able to work together. Some together but better apart.

Some of the value will also depend on Udoka making the right decisions in terms of who to play (Gallo or G Will) depending on matchups which may or may not go well for us. Could be positive, could be negative or more likely somewhere in between.

With a lot of injuries and lost quickness at 6-10.

Jason Terry was 35 when he came here.
Finley was 36.

I don't think this impacts GWill's minutes at all. He'll play the 5 with Gallo on the court. I can see Gallo reducing Horford's minutes vs certain teams, which would be a good idea.
