Dieng signs with Spurs.

Too bad.  He would have been a very good fit for what we need.

Free agent G TJ Warren has agreed to a one-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN.

Well, at least now we can stop talking about him.

Has BRK used its MLE yet?

Dang, I was holding out hope for both Warren and Dieng. Knew there probably weren't minutes available for Warren but still :)

Nice. BRK now have Joe Harris, Royce O'Neal and TJ Warren as their backup forwards behind Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons.

If they (front office, owner) would just stop digging their heels in and get out of their own way, they have a really nice team over there. A title contender.

It's interesting too because they have Poeltl and Zach Collins who they are more invested in. There is little guarantee of minutes yet Dieng signed on anyway.

Clearly he was available.

The Nets have reached a free agent agreement with forward T.J. Warren and will sign him to a one-year contract, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link).

The terms of the deal aren’t yet known. Brooklyn hasn’t used its taxpayer mid-level exception yet and could offer Warren any amount between his minimum ($2.6MM) and the full taxpayer MLE ($6.5MM).

My guess is he got the $6.5M.  We used ours on Gallinari.  I guess we can start the debate on who got the better value for their MLE.

If Durant does ultimately leave (and maybe even if he doesn’t), Warren could wind up with a starting gig, so it’s a better fit for him than here.

Definitely agree.  He'll have a chance to put up numbers, and he'll probably get paid more, too.

Yep.  And if the Nets flop (which is not unlikely) and we want him, he would either fit into the Hernangomez TPE or match with Gallo.

I was hoping for the amazing depth that adding Warren for the minimum would allow, but I’m admittedly not surprised it won’t happen.  I also get preferring Gallo to someone who hasn’t played in two years.  Bigger ceiling with Warren, but lower floor, and the floor is important in this circumstance.

If TJ is able to play, it’s not much of a debate. He’s a better player and at 28 years old, still in his prime. That’s a huge pickup for Brooklyn.

Isn't that the big IF though?  How likely is it that he will return to full form?  It is not a given he will be better than Gallinari next season.  It could go either way.  I agree it is a good pick up.  A good chance to take.

Considering he’s 28 and it was a stress fracture in his foot vs a tear of an Achilles or MCL/ACL, I’d think the chances are pretty good.

Pacers' T.J. Warren will not play this season, despite being 'a full participant in on-court activity'
By James Herbert
Mar 17, 2022

With 12 games left on the schedule, the Indiana Pacers have announced that T.J. Warren will miss the entire 2021-22 regular season. The forward last played on Dec. 29, 2020, and has since been sidelined after having surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot.

"T.J. Warren has worked incredibly hard over the past 14 months to get to this point -- a full participant in on-court activity with his teammates -- all while navigating the many challenges that accompany this type of injury," Pacers president Kevin Pritchard said in the team's official statement. "However, after thoughtful conversation with T.J. and his representatives, it has been determined that the most beneficial course of action at this point is to allow him to focus on the 2022-23 season.
