2022 is the first finals, not lost to the Lakers

I think this is an interesting footnote in Celtics history.

For the most part, the Celtics met the Lakers in the finals.

The others were Houston, Phoenix, & Milwaukee & so far, the Celts were undefeated by the other non-Laker WCF champs.

I don't know if this is significant but it looks like the Celts-Lakers thing may have moved on.

The St. Louis Hawks defeated us in the 1958 NBA Finals. We also lost three times to the Lakers. This is only the second time we lost the decisive game on home court, and obviously the first time at TD Garden.

Celtics V. Lakers will always be a thing, though. It may be more of a proxy battle for who has the most titles but eventually we’ll face them in the Finals again. And win.

We also played the San Francisco Warriors in 1964.

Celts-Lakers will always be an important rivalry, just like Packers-Cowboys, Bruins-Canadiens, Yankees-Dodgers, Celtics-Sixers,
Alabama-Auburn, UNC-Duke, Notre Dame-USC, Oklahoma-Texas, on and on. Many of the great sports rivalries have droughts in
head-to-head matchups. Doesn't matter, they remain an important and storied part of their respective sport.
And when they inevitably meet again , the intensity and hate will still be there for the players and the fans.
