Being reported that KD and Irving want to stay together, just not with the Nets - Woj

Lol at them both going full on brat.
It really is a hilarious situation. What GM, in their right mind, is going to try and add both of them (supposedly as they wish) when one of the core problems they’ve had with Brooklyn is not having enough of a say in front office matters.

Trading for two divas who will actively undermine you sounds like a pretty poor idea.
Davis and Westbrook for Durant and Irving.
Brooklyn hangs up laughing.
there would be draft picks going to Nets, but probably.  Davis would be a major get for the Nets though
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I respect that.

They came to BKN to play together. Their GM (Sean Marks?) betrayed that and tried to force things against their wishes. They stood up to their GM and told him where to get off.

Good for them. Standing side by side arm in arm.

BKN knew they deal when they signed them. BKN betrayed that deal. Durant and Kyrie are correct to turn their backs on BKN.

All of this was avoidable except for that egotistical GM who felt he could change how things were run and that nobody would stand up to him.

BKN's GM and their owner have misunderstood the situation.

Kyrie was not the replaceable part of this relationship. They were [they being the GM, the owner, the whole organization].

This essential misunderstanding caused them to destruct a Championship caliber basketball team. They have nobody but themselves to blame.

Be careful what you wish for.

BKN wished for no more Kyrie. They got what they wanted only now they have no more Durant either.

I think they'll easily find replacements to lead them to being swept in the first round

I don't believe the lakers have much in the way of draft picks anytime soon? I could be wrong

KD for Brown+filler+picks

I don’t see why Nets will say no. They get a young allstar who hasn’t yet hit prime and can be an exciting running mate beside Simmons. Plus, picks are always a cost effective way to rebuild.

I don’t see why C’s will say no. I know many of us love JB but KD is a better player today and next year than JB. Maybe even the year after that. KD kicks open our championship window and vaults us as ECF favorites, imo. And sure, a 3-year contention window might seem short-lived but getting a championship/s out of it will be worth it.

I don’t buy the narrative of “7-8 year window of contention” by keeping the Jays together. Maybe if we were already the best team in the league, I’d buy it.

Championship or contender windows are generally short. Lebron+Wade+Bosh were contenders for… 4 years? Shaq-Kobe were contenders for… 4 years? Teams are constantly going to get better around us. And young stars are constantly going to emerge.

They went to BKN to play together and Marks bent over backwards for them. Asking Kyrie to actually show up for work isn’t too much to ask….

If this report is right, then the report KD put Boston on his list of teams must be wrong. On no planet does KI come to Boston.

Agreed. The East is getting thicker and tougher. We blew 2018 and 2020 in the ECF and now 2022. A couple of first-round exits too. Happy to depart one of the Jay's, particularly JB for Kevin Durant. Smart/KD/Tatum/Horford/Timelord will crush Giannis's Bucks...that's the team who will stand in our way in the East and who we need to destroy.

When you do deals with crazy, you have to live with crazy.

You cannot sign crazy to a deal and expect crazy to suddenly become sane. He is crazy!!!

It reminds me of the Dennis Rodman with the Spurs and Dennis Rodman with the Bulls. The Spurs couldn't handle Rodman. They had team rules that everybody had to obey at all times and Rodman wouldn't bend to their will. When Rodman goes to CHI, Phil tells the team they will have one set of rules for Rodman and another set of rules everyone else if the rest of the team agrees because this is the only way they see Rodman surviving here and so everyone bought in. Rodman became a vital piece of the 3 time Championship Bulls. San Antonio got a backup center in Will Perdue for Rodman.

Sean Marks is from the school of San Antonio and tried to force the San Antonio way onto crazy. NO!!!! Kyrie is a diva. You knew you were signing crazy when you signed Kyrie. You have to be more flexible with Kyrie if you want that partnership to succeed. Sean Marks was incapable of that much like San Antonio was back in the mid-90s with Rodman.

And like with San Antonio with Rodman, Kyrie's trade value had tanked so the Nets could not get comparable value back in a trade for Kyrie. San Antonio got a backup center in Will Perdue.

Now you are asking Kevin Durant at 34years of age to take back a vastly inferior player to Kyrie and be happy because of ... what? Team culture?

Be happy with losing KD because we want a team culture -- with not competing for a Championship any more or any time in the remaining years of high level basketball you have left in your tank because we want certain standards here ...

Well Durant looked at this and said "No". I value Kyrie more than I value you and your team culture. I came here to play with Kyrie and play for Championships. You have betrayed that. You have broken our pact. I am out!!

I respect that.

I respect Durant continuing to want to play with Kyrie. I respect them turning the tables on their team after the team went back on the deal. Good for them.

Frankly, I am rooting for them. Make BKN pay.

The Nets have traded for O’Neale, and resigned Mills and Claxton.  This likely takes Phoenix out of being able to make an offer for Durant, as that deal would require a S&T of Ayton.  However, a deal structured around Durant and Ayton would require the Nets to take back at least $20 million more than they send out to fit under the hard cap, which would be a pretty difficult deal to work out.

I'm going to be so bummed if KD goes to Miami of all teams. Hope he ends up in Dallas or Phoenix
