The Nets have traded for O’Neale, and resigned Mills and Claxton.  This likely takes Phoenix out of being able to make an offer for Durant, as that deal would require a S&T of Ayton.  However, a deal structured around Durant and Ayton would require the Nets to take back at least $20 million more than they send out to fit under the hard cap, which would be a pretty difficult deal to work out.
I always felt Suns would be doing
Payne, Johnson, Bridges, Crowder and three 1st and two swap first.

Want C's to offer GW, White, two 1st and a swap for Bridges. Also offer TPE for what ever salary they want to dump if that's what it takes to get Bridges.

So just for KD in this three way  trade Nets would get,
GW, White, Payne, Johnson, Crowder, five 1st, three 1st swap rights, and a TPE to dump salary.
That's a massive pick haul, five rotation players and possible salary relief. (Nets could get a fourth team that needs to dump $, send their guy to C's TPE and get that team's 1st for six total first!)

I think Nets get a real talent for Durant, not just filler.

My opinion based on Nets moves is KD and Irving stay. No trade. I'm just saying if Suns do trade BS should move in on Bridges as he should be a piece.

So one of the trade proposal I've heard is - Jaylen Brown + Marcus Smart + 2 1st round picks, +2 2nd round picks for KD and Seth Curry.

IMO if that's the trade, you have to pull the trigger if you're DA.  Yes, it's a steep price to pay, but I feel like KD plus Tatum would bring the next championship banner to Boston.

Oops meant Brad Stevens.  I'm so used to DA being in the front office.  LOL.

How is that much different to any other packages that have been proposed?

Trading for a 34 year old Durant wouldn’t exactly make me feel good. There would be an injury fear every season.

This has to be a joke. Brad should be fired if he makes this sort of deal (and I like Seth Curry btw as the other piece coming back but still, way too steep a trade package)

Replace Smart with White and I do it, even if they want more firsts. Assume Gallo signing:

Smart/Pritchard/
Tatum/Curry
Durant/Grant/Hauser
Horford/Gallinari
Timelord/Theis

Plus there is still the rest of the Fournier TPE(around $8.5 million) after absorbing Curry in and the $6.9 million Juancho TPE.

I just don't think that team wins a chip.  I'm not sure that team beats gsw this year.

Eh, I'd prefer to throw White in there instead of Smart if possible. I'd even go as far as adding some combination of Nesmith, more 2nds, and even (gulp) another pick swap in order to keep Smart, though I'd probably walk if they wanted a pick swap, too.

So let's say the deal is this:

Boston: KD, Curry

Nets: Brown, White, Nesmith, unprotected firsts in 24 and 26, and 3 second round picks

Still a bit hesitant to trade Brown for KD given age, but I could potentially get behind something like this. That's a really solid lineup with lots of flexibility:

PG: Smart, PP
SG: Curry, ?
SF: Tatum, GWill
PF: KD, Horford
C: Timelord, Theis

We'd still need some bench help with the tax MLE and other exceptions, but that's a versatile, two-way lineup.

TP.  I'm ok with giving up White instead of Smart if the Nets will do it.  Brown is the centerpiece anyways I'm sure.  Maybe we have to throw in an additional pick swap as well, but I could see that roster doing some serious damage in the playoffs.  How do you guard KD and Tatum on the floor at the same time?  And Curry is a nice added piece as a floor spacer, his career 3Pt% is over 43%.

I’m not sure about including a good player above and beyond JB. I mean, I’d rather deal the next six years of firsts/swaps with JB and Theis. That ought to be unbeatable if they value JB above Ayton. Including White or Smart weakens our backcourt too much, even if we bring in Curry (who’s basically Pritchard on defense).
