Would you be willing to sell high on Smart? Would you send him out to the Kings for the number 4 pick in the draft? Maybe also picking up a player or two...

I'm not sure how I feel about it but it's a thought early on draft day.

That would be an incredible return for Smart. Big overpay. I'd jump at that deal.

It's the Kings so it could be possible. Seems like an overpay to me too.

Only if we were then flipping the pick for a starting level player that would improve our starting line up over what Smart gave us.  Say DeJounte Murray or John Collins or some other player of that caliber.

How does a rookie, even a promising rookie help us next season?

I’d be willing to trade Smart to the Kings for Kyle Draper after that Game 6 performance (kidding)

Yes, but the Kings never would. Plus, they just drafted Mitchell who plays similar to Smart.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I'd do it if we had Barnes coming back, with a future 1st and maybe Nesmith/PP going to Sac. It is tempting because Ivey is a great prospect, but as a Title contending team, we need a legitimate player coming back in the deal.

If they're in win now mode Smart is a big upgrade over Mitchell.

If you can get a special player in the draft, you take the step back in the current term team prospects for the much better long term team prospects.

I'd be on board with that but can't see Sac throwing in an extra first.  Barnes would be a major acquisition.  would heavily depend on Brad having another starting PG lined up to join the team.

What if one of those top three guys slips to 4?

then why would Sacramento make the trade.  A big reason Sacto is looking to move the pick is Ivey is redundant.

How about this: (it would be 2 separate trades, but easier to just show as 1)

Boston - Anunoby, Barnes, Achiuwa
Toronto - 4
Sacramento - Smart, Grant
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

The Kings are in win now mode and will probably make an over pay trade out of impatience. I love that trade for Boston but Toronto, I don't think so... Toronto is a well run organization, unlike the KIngs who just jump at shiney objects.
