Just watched this video about Steph.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWGkTWSfGc8

(no need to watch it, it's nothing special)

Long story short, Bill Simmons ranks Steph at #10 and Kobe at #9. What do you guys think? Is Steph top 10 all time?

Personally speaking, I got at least 7 guys ahead of Steph (in chronological order): Russ, Wilt, Kareem, Bird, Magic, Jordan, LeBron

My next tier is Oscar, Dream, Shaq, Timmy and KD. Steph probably belongs in this tier after his 4th title, but I'm not sure whether he cracks the top 10.

Interesting that you do not have Kobe in the top 10 and that you think Steph may deserve to be there.  I am not sure that I disagree.  Just thinking about it:

Jordan
Russell
Kareem
Magic
Bird
Lebron
Duncan
Shaq
Wilt

If you have those 9, you are choosing between Steph, Kobe, Oscar Robertson, Hakeem, Durant, Dr. J, Karl Malone, Moses Malone, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen.

In the top 9, above I only have 1 current player (Lebron).  Even out of the current players, I am not sure where to rank Curry:

Curry
Durant
Giannis

I would argue that Durant has had a better career than Curry so far and I may already be willing to say Giannis is better.  This disregards some of the younger players that have not yet accomplished anything significant, like Embiid, Jokic, Doncic.

I guess from my analysis above, I am not even sure if Steph makes the top 15, let alone the top 10.  Defensive impact needs to count, as does the ability to do more with less help on your team.

Personally, no.

In no particular order:
Jordan
Bird
Russell
Kareem
Wilt
Magic
LeBron
Shaq
Duncan
Hakeem

I think he's right there in the 10-20 range with guys like Malone x2, Oscar, Kobe, Giannis, Dr J, Jerry West and so on.

However, in terms of taking the modern game to places nobody really predicted, I think the only guy who is similar in terms of impact is Dirk and the invention of true perimeter big men.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Second best of this generation (post-Duncan/Kobe generation, which is the post-MJ/Shaq generation, which was the post-Bird/Magic generation, which was the last “modern” generation of post-1980). Probably top 15, not top 10 or top 20, all-time because of impact and being second best of his popular generation.

At no time in his career was Steph Curry the best player on the planet, which would make him the only guy in the top 10 for that to be the case. I'm not even sure he is top 15.

Top 10

Lebron
Kareem
Jordan
Wilt
Bill
Magic
Bird
Duncan
Hakeem
Shaq

After those 10 I'd probably have these guys ahead of Steph

Moses
Dr. J
Oscar
Kobe

So that makes him 15th at best and I'd have a hard time picking him over Giannis and Durant from his own generation.  There are even arguments for guys like West, Dirk, KG, Mailman, Barkley.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner
