This is like when the Pistons lost to the Lakers, and we’ll be back as champions next year, right? Right? What do we have to do to get there?

This hurts just like 2010 😞 I was absolutely convinced we were coming back when we cut it to ten heading into the fourth 😢

Up to ownership to pay up. What's this team costing Golden State? 178 million. 40 million more than the Celtics. Pay up Wyc and company!

Odds are, "no." Unless Curry gets hurt, GS will probably be back in the Finals, and unless Tatum and Brown learn to dribble and pass (to the right team) between now and then, Boston doesn't have much of a chance.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

Unfortunately, probably not. We got lucky with injuries to other teams and pulled out multiple game 7 wins. We just don't have a prime Lebron or prime Curry to lean on, so we fall back into the pack of very good teams who have a chance.

Of course we can improve, but so can other teams just by getting healthy. I am not currently scared of MIA, but if they trade Herro for Beal or something, that changes things. MIA, PHI, MIL, BKN, and maybe even TOR/CLE with their young stars. Just a lot of competition out there. Hopefully no superteams are formed, because having a chance at least gives fans hope.

Champions?  Getting to the Finals was hard enough.  Complete roll of the dice when they can get back there, with how competitive the league is, much less Champions.

I'm sure we'll be competitive. Whether the stars align again, in terms of our group being injury free, and whether they take the learnings from this finals run, and whether our competition improves, and whether Brad chooses to make changes to the team and if so what they are, will all impact whether we make it to the Finals again. It's not easy to make the Finals, and even harder to win a championship. As they just found out. You can be the better team on paper but it's about who plays better when the pressure is on.

But we have a chance. And in this league, that's the best you can hope for. That's what we will spend all next season trying to find out, how good that chance is  :police:

Without changes I think it is more likely that Boston misses the top 6 in the East than even making the Finals again.  I don't think either happens without a major move taking place.  Boston needs to improve, significantly, one of its top 3 spots so either upgrade Tatum, upgrade Brown, or upgrade Smart.  Ideally you'd be able to upgrade one of those guys without giving the guy being replaced up, so like get a better player than Tatum while still keeping Tatum, but I don't think that is all that feasible (at least with Tatum or Brown) since Boston doesn't have all its draft picks and doesn't have any really good young prospects to change.

Optimally, Boston will be able to upgrade that 3rd player while keeping Smart.  I'm not sure what that looks like exactly, but that is at least possible.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Why should they?  Their rationale might be that "we fell 2 games short of #18 with numerous injuries".  Run it back with a healthier and wiser team.  It's not my rationale, I'm projecting what Wyc might be thinking.

Sadly, I agree. Once a cheapskate, always a cheapskate.

Horford and picks; or White, Theis, and picks. I might target a team like Atlanta that had a disappointing season and needs to rebuild its defensive identity. Collins and Bogdan would be superior to what we have now. I'd check in with IND to see about Brogdon's availability.

I like the idea of rolling the dice on Isaac from ORL (just outside of TPE range, though), but he hasn't played for years, he might turn out like Justise Winslow. How's Denver's cap sheet? Is Aaron Gordon available?
