Any major changes? Do we shake things up drastically, or try and keep the same core intact? Who do we draft? Any free agents?

What should we do? Because this bench won't cut it, and it's lost us this potential title.

What seems clear is Smart cannot be the primary ballhandler. He has neither the intelligence nor the skills.

I hope this title ends up aging very badly, but we need some veteran guys that can come if the bench and play smart basketball. Doesn't really matter what position.

50/50 attempt at either jinxing or simply venting my frustrations. I f feel as if Brad would never trade any of the guys he coached and likes, because he doesn't strike me as ruthless enough to do so.

Put this exact statement in another thread but fits here

Quote
Honestly, I think Boston's mentality this summer should be thinking like Middleton didn't get hurt and Boston lost to Milwaukee in the ECS.  I think that is the more realistic view of the team and as such the summer should be planned like that.  And that thought shouldn't change no matter the outcome of the last 2 games of this series.

This board has a big time habit of overreacting to the moment and not really accounting for injuries.  We saw that a lot in 2012 where a lot of this board was thinking that Boston was still a true contender because they pushed Miami to 7 in the ECF.  But Bosh didn't play until game 5 and once he was back and reasonably healthy, Miami went back to crushing the C's.  That was also the year Rose blew out his knee against the Sixers in the 1st round and Boston ended up playing the 8th seeded Sixers in the 2nd round (who took Boston to 7 games).

I just don't want to see Boston treat this summer like it is really close and do all sorts of short term moves.  Boston needs to still find a legit 3rd piece or just better fitting pieces in general, especially as Horford ages and Rob still can't stay healthy.

I tend to agree with Moranis insofar as this team needs to treat the offseason as a time for significant improvement.

I know Stevens won't do it, but I would love to see him dangle Smart out there for offers. His value should be high.

I would like a scorer off the bench and another reliable 4/5. That along with hopefully improvement from the core should be good. But I think it really starts with Brown and Tatum developing their games for the grit and grind of the playoffs. Better handles, better midrange game. Kinda incorporate some of Butler's offensive game into them.

Another reliable big man after they dump Theis somehow, and preferably a natural PG that can facilitate. Hope Nesmith can take the next step this offseason, but also if they can figure out a way to add another scoring option off the bench they need to do it.

They have the TPE and obviously some exceptions to work with. I don't think they need major changes but I also don't think anyone outside of Tatum and Brown should be untouchable either.

I think Thad Young is the ideal bench big target. Can play 4/5 on both ends, is a good passer and a decent enough shooter. I think moving Smart/White for a more reliable offensive piece (in terms of shooting and dribble penetration) would be worthwhile.

White, Grant, Pritchard, Theis, Isn’t bad, but they need a backup wing. The bench didn’t cost the Celtics a title, not having an offensive scheme is the issue. The Warriors offense is like water, it just flows.

It's pretty obviously fairly bad.

Don't think we need a major shake up. This foundation made a Finals run.

We need to be a aggressive in getting another shot creator with the TPE. Also need to get a solid shooter off the bench for the MLE.

Yeah, we have to use the TPE(s) to get some more offence. Passing, three point shooting and dribble penetration are huge needs.
