Celtics…mainly Tatum look really gassed. He has played a lot of basketball the past few seasons.

The missed free throws and jumpers tell me their legs are gone.

I think the Celtics over-reliance on flopping to gets calls has finally caught up with them. To me, this is especially true when they drive to the rim. Tatum, in particular, missed a lot of layups all season, but was bailed out by the refs and went to the line. In the Finals, he doesn't seem to be getting those calls. Instead on finessing his way to layups, he should be attacking with force.

Unfortunately, if the Celtics end up losing this series, I think Brad Stevens has to make a major shake-up move. I know this team is in the Finals, but I don't think you can be this close and lose, and recover.

The season will come down to one thing; the Jay decision making on the fly.  It's clear to me that the warriors have no issues with them driving into the paint.  From there they are blocking off the rim forcing the Jays to make the right decision over and over and over again.  There is no magic adjustment here.  Simply have to play better.

Curry, Klay, and Draymond are all in their 30's.

It is not tired legs beating us. Injuries have played a role, but we have loads of guys who haven't even entered their prime yet.

It is composure.  Jaylen made a great drive late in the 3rd where he did a little hesitation dribble and froze the defense.  Lo and behold,  he found a seam getting to the rim.

Same with Smart and Tatum. When they calm themselves they are craftier, which makes all the difference.

These straight line attacks don't work against intelligent defenders. It is the little wrinkles that confuse a defense and throw their timing off. Curry is a master of this.

But when guys get tight (like James Harden infamously does), that subtlety goes out the window and guys read what we're doing.

Just like tipping your pitch in baseball or staring diwn the receiver in football.

one simple adjustment -- stop insisting on getting all the way to the basket on a drive and instead drive a couple of dribbles and pop for a jumper.  clean shot attempt without a hand in their face or multiple hands from other defenders slapping at the ball.  will cut TOs dramatically

Here, here. There are soooooo many plays where Smart, Tatum, Brown, and White get into the paint and have opportunities for pullups or floaters. GS cannot guard these.

Instead we're flying into the teeth of the defense.

2 things:

1. GET A REAL PG this offseason. It's not working with Smart as the primary PG and ballhandler. Doesn't even need to be an All-Star or an expensive one. Just need a PG who can facilitate better and not make careless turnovers like every other possession

Lol now it's trade Smart season?  ;D

How does this get fixed? For five years we watched a team that just reverts to unorganized, confused offense. They had over an entire month of playoff BB to learn you can't turn the ball over. Yet they leanlrned nothing.

During the last half of the season it appeared they finally woke up shed the bad habits. Looks like those habits just went dormant.

I can handle losing if we just get beat. Losing like this is hard to swallow.

BINGO. beyond infuriating. if this team played smart we woulda beaten the bucks and heat in 5 and arguably the warriors in 5. had leads last 2 games albeit small and we lost them. a major change will be needed this offseason. time is up. either you want to be a smart player or NOT. make up your mind, can you get it done or not moving forward? if not we may need to move another direction with either a GM or coach or players who GET IT. This is 5 or 6 years of pure insanity. we never learn. who is messing up here? teachers or students or both?
LET'S GO CELTICS!

No I'm not saying trade Smart. But they definitely need a better PG. Smart is better as a 6th man or something

I'll repeat what I wrote in my earlier post. On defense the Celtics should hand check like the Warriors. Not just just a light touch to the body, but rather apply firmer pressure.

Throw the offensive player off balance while swiping at the ball with the free hand.

2. Get another solid depth big in place of Theis. Hate to say it but Theis just looks cooked nowadays and is basically unplayable in a lot of these postseason series

I know people will argue we need additional scoring and wing depth behind the Jays but I put that as like our 3rd priority. The two above to me are the bigger ones. I'm also still a believer in Nesmith being a bench option for us down the road. I hope we're patient with him for at least one more offseason like we were Grant Williams and Pritchard (and look how that turned out).
What "real PG" fits our defence? How is a trip to the Finals evidence of it "not working".

FYI, Smart had a better assist:turnover ratio than the Ball brothers.

The Celtics made the Finals with Smart as their starting Point Guard. Why demote him to a bench role after finding massive success this season?
