Really really really hated the spinorama fade away 3 from Tatum when we were up 4 with the ball.  Going for a Flippin knockout punch in the first half??!  Totally changed momentum back.

Stick with what was working.
Yup

We finally get the lead, then Tatum jacks a horrible 3, we turn it over twice on dribble drives.

That's what I mean by a lack of mental toughness and mental discipline. You get a lead and momentum, you don't get happy and revert to bad habits because you suddenly think you've got the game. You keep grinding with the same things that got you the lead.

agreed
LET'S GO CELTICS!

White needs to start the second half. Smart has been absolutely atrocious.
Absolutely. He has been pretty bad since coming back from the ankle

Smart killing us on offense.  White's inability to shoot on full display on that last trip -- won't shoot a shot when he's wide open with the clock winding down.

He should drive...

He tried.  Oladipo shut him off.

He needs to give the ball up.  If he can't attack that matchup, let Brown or Tatum run something instead.

I expect a much cleaner 2nd half.  We played like crap.  No support for the Jays.  Other players need to step up.

Terrible last possession for the C’s. gawd I hate the just dribble out the shot clock and hope for something to happen.  Run a freaking play.

Yeah, smart to white and back is no bueno when Brown and Tatum are dominating on O tonight.

Smart has been worthless this game, even his defense hasn't been impressive. We need a couple of our role players to step up.

Yeah, so everyone but Tatum and Brown have been horrendous. Team only has 8 assists. Tell the guys to move the ball, coach. Take advantage of their weaker defenders. Force switches and exploit.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I agree. For as well as Miami has shot the three we're awfully close

Just completely brain dead to end the half. Could be the difference in the game. This team can be so frustrating at times.

Yep, Miami was folding and we let them off the hook

Just give White the minutes. His passing and defence has been better, and both couldn't hit the side of a barn

What are the chances Butler shoots 100% from 3 in the second half and the Heat shoot 50%?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Tatum missed a shot with just over a minute to go for a chance to go up by 7. And here we are at halftime down 2. The thing that won us game 5 was our amazing end to the 3rd quarter - not being able to close out a quarter this game hopefully won't cost us.

Especially with Butler playing at such a high level. This is a winnable game. No need for anyone to panic.
