Lol.  Somebody gave Kyrie a 3rd Team vote.

Jalen Rose.

Wow.  No credibility.

Hat tip to the NBA for making these public, though.

He loses one for keeping JT off the first team, though.

I don’t understand how Perk was allowed to vote for Embiid as a Forward. He had Booker, Doncic, Embiid, Giannis and Jokic. If Embiid can be counted as either a F or a C. Tatum should be able to be voted as a G or F. In that case it should be Doncic, Tatum, Giannis, Embiid, Jokic for first team.

Clearly he chose Booker over Tatum, because he was wrong.

I don’t believe Tatum could be voted in as a Guard. a few voted for him as a Guard. How can anyone have Booker over Tatum..Are they completely ignoring defense? Ridiculous.

I don't know who Jason Quick is (works for The Athletic apparently) but he definitely has an odd ballot.  He's responsible for one of LeBron's two 1st Team votes (Dennis Scott was the other) and also the 1 person who gave a vote to Dejounte Murray.

Looking at ballots for other awards, Kevin Pelton (ESPN) had 3 Celtics (Horford, Smart, Tatum) on his 1st All-D ballot.  Was hoping to see somebody with 5-6 C's across the 2 teams, but looks like most people only voted for 2 Celts.  Pelton, Mike Greenberg (ESPN), Remi Reverchon, and Guillermo Schutz were the only guys with 3 C's on their ballots.

And Embiid got more overall points than Tatum so this makes no sense.  If Embiid could be a forward, then he would have gotten the other forward slot on the first team rather than Tatum as he had more points.  So if Perk could vote Embiid as a forward, he could have voted Tatum as a guard, it is just that Tatum could not have been on the first team as a guard.   But the votes/points count the same.

Case in point is the ballot of Frank Isola.  He had Giannis and Jokic as forwards, Embiid as Center, and Tatum and Booker as guards.

It makes no sense or maybe there is something I don't understand.  But glad it worked out that Tatum has been deemed one of the top 2 forwards in the game, the best "wing" forward (as opposed to "power" forward Giannis) and the 6th best overall vote/point getter.

Since Booker received 70 more votes/points, you have to concede that this "jury" felt Booker is better than Tatum and better than Embiid.  I am not sure that all the voters interpreted this consistently but it appears that any voter could have put Tatum ahead of Booker by simply putting him in as a guard, just like a bunch of voters put Embiid (or Jokic) in as forward over Tatum.

My biggest issue on the teams is Lebron.

56 games played.
Team at 16 games under .500.
Showed obvious signs of playing more to post stats than to win games.

He's undeserving.

And both Brown and Butler deserved third team guard over CP3.

Lebron and CP3 were legacy inclusions, IMHO.

My third team would have been

KAT
Siakam
Brown
Butler
Trae

Personally I’m fine with Lebron on there but idk how CP3 got in. So you’re saying CP3 gets in because of his team being a 1 seed but Butler doesn’t make it while his team is the 1 seed??

Actually, the more I think about it I'm also questioning Lebron's inclusion now. His team SUCKED all season long, and Lebron also only played like 55 of the games, right? A guy like Butler should have made it over him. I have to imagine how one's team does and their record also factors into things. I mean, if the C's as a team finished with a better record are we sure Tatum is still left off the 3rd ALL-NBA team last season despite how he played? How about Bradley Beal in the past?

It's a confusing system. Guys that have multi-position eligibility like Tatum (G/F) or Jokic (F/C) can be voted at either position. However, ultimately, they are locked in to the position where voters give them the most votes. So, Tatum got most of his votes at F - he has to be a F on the team. Jokic got most of his votes at C - he has to be a C on the team. To get Jokic and Embiid on, voters would have had to collude and all decide to mark Jokic a F and Embiid a C.

JB got three votes as a forward when most of his career and almost exclusively this year, he started and played most minutes as a 2 guard.

All NBA has always been more about stats and less about team record.  So when a guy averages 30.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 6.2 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.1 bpg with an eFG of 59 and a TS% of 61.9 he should absolutely be on an All NBA Team.  And the games played issue is much less a thing when a lot of the other players played a similar level of games (Butler for example played 1 more game than him).
Tell that to Bradley Beal, Trae Young, Damián Lillard, etc that all had huge box score #'s certain years and got snubbed mostly due to team record. There are people that get snubbed for All-NBA due to team record littered throughout NBA history. Your theory on this just to protect Lebron is completely wrong
Beal made the 3rd team in 21.  Young made it this year (though didn't as a 2nd year player with similar stats).  Until this year Lillard had made 4 consecutive All NBA Teams.

No player in NBA history has averaged 30/8/6 and not been on an All NBA Team.

Yeah if he got 65-70 games I would be fine with him making it on some empty calorie stats as Barkley called them. But 55 on one of the worst teams of the league with horrible defense? It is definitely a legacy vote and Butler deserved it over him. As others have pointed out, team records have long had an influence on players making all nba teams and other awards. It is true it is not impossible to make all NBA with a really lousy record, but a lousy record and missing a third of the season, yeah that doesn't normally happen.
