Bit of doom thinking about today's game

It's really clear why today should leave us happy, but I'm kinda not buying it.

Here's what I saw:

 - Heat coming out as though they were going into a Scott Foster game
 - JT averages 6.2 freethrows, took 14 in the first HALF (Scott Foster game)
 - We played really bad offense large part of the second half
 - JT not hitting 3s but keeps taking them
 - DWhite hot start, then goes on to miss the most widest openest shots ever. whilst red hot. how.
 - Rob hurt again
 - Smart DNP (worries me because it's an ongoing issue)
 - Our guys might see this game as "see? easy!" and come out with low effort or entitlement next game.

That scares me. Especially since, the most genuine part of this game to me, was the fact that Robert Williams III came to play. In the first 5-7 minutes or whatever it was, he affected EVERY SINGLE SHOT, or got the rebound if he wasn't close enough to affect it. That's huge.

So, the brightest spot gets kinda nullified because it's a guy that can't stay healthy and had to be subbed out again due to it

I'll gladly eat crow next game if we do the same but without the refs. But right now, I'm worried.

You seem really keen on discrediting our insane defensive effort

Basically saying this in a separate topic because I don't wanna pollute other topics but this looks very much like they're letting us play, but the Heat not so much, compared to other games.

Having said that - we *are* great on defense. And Rob helps with that HEAPS. He makes us so much bigger.

Heck, even on offense he's a huge differencemaker because he turns us into a crazy tall team, adds heaps of spacing and gets us easy lobs/offensive-rebounds.

I definitely see positives, and yeah, our defense is great - I just also see detractors.

I don't see it that way. The foul disparity is fairly significant, but we are huge compared to Miami, and most of our fouls have come away from shooting. We aren't buying into the nonsense that Jimmy Butler pulls inside the paint anymore, as seen by switching guys like Grant and Rob onto him.

We've also shot way less free throws in the second half and our lead has still grown. Rob does help heaps - he simply has to play.

Well, our starters played +- 40 more minutes than theirs did.

I'm not saying we didn't deserve a win. I'm not saying we didn't play better. I'm just saying I've got a lot of asteriskses on this W.

What could convince me I'm wrong about this feeling is simply when we come out and show effort, consistently, in the next game.

If we don't get a W next game ... I'm scared.

I think you're overlooking the fact that their starters are banged up too. Butler, Lowry and Robinson have all missed time, as has their second best scorer in Herro

Wait, so you're adding to my list of concerns?

Cuz those are reasons to be more worried :]

Only if you think they're miraculously going to bounce back from injuries while our guys will not do the same.

We held their starters to 19% shooting through three quarters.  We built a 30 point lead.

Our shooting wasn’t great, but our defense was phenomenal.

Whilst I'm 100% on board with the fact that we're amazing on D, possibly best in the league, I do think that statistically, we won't be able to keep that number close to that ballpark for 2 more games.

I get it but it's one more step. They are tied and haven't had a great game yet.

Yeah look, I feel like pointing out the "why" really helps here

We won easily, but a combination of factors contributed to it - sort of like a perfect storm

And I doubt that perfect storm will happen again

Also, unmentioned, but I feel like games are reffed super differently from game to game, which benefited us this time 'round

.edit: EXAMPLE - https://streamable.com/eq4p9i

Plays like this, I feel, were fouls last game. Due to contact before the block

Agreed! We are going to have to play alot better to get by Miami!
