I don't have a strong opinion on the issue at all, but it does seem strange to me that regular dudes with regular jobs are trying to compare themselves to someone currently on a 4yr/$73M contract in the middle of critical time in their career. I think a lot of wives would probably sacrifice their husband being live in the delivery room (but still on Zoom or whatever) for $73M.
lol no. Just no. And its pathetic tbh. We are getting roasted in different forums of different teams because of this. Money is irrelevant. The fact that his employers are fine with it speaks volumes. Family comes first. If his wife dies, will you take responsibility? Can you say a championship is worth it? They do their jobs for their families, its comical that you should put it over your family, esp if you are being allowed by your boss in the first place.
Also people don't see the benefits. If a player is encouraged to be human rather than be a product, to prioritize family over job. Do you think it will turn off potential free agents? No, heck it would make them even a more attractive destination.
