Smart shooting.  0-6 from the paint.  3-4 midrange.  1-4 corner 3's.  4-8 above break 3's.

His only turnover was off the steal near midcourt that he threw off Tatum's feet.

Just a masterclass by Smart outside of blowing 3 gimme layups.
Smart has his eyes on a trophy treble.

According to every single player except maybe Rondo, Doc was the right person at the right time for us in 2008.

Doc brought Ubuntu.

Having said that, yeah, Ime might be better. Time will tell.
I also think Doc has gotten worse as time has gone on. He was way better in Orlando and with us than he was in LA or Philly thus far

I've heard his ATO and playcalling are still good

So is he just not connecting to people. Like not using iPads to watch film and instead forcing players to use VHS, or recording/dishing out motivational soundtracks on casette tapes lol

But more seriously I assume he's kinda like Mark Jackson or something. Somehow Ime, despite being stoic and hard in appearance, seems to do well - I would note how one of the things Brad said he loves about Ime is how well Ime communicates.

Yeah, Ubuntu really worked at the time. It was sort of a weird spiritual way to get Kevin Garnett completely on board with something he otherwise might not have been.

Side note, but KG is one of the basketball greats, but he won't be remembered as such because he doesn't have as many Finals wins as some others. A shame, really.

Yeah, I got KG on my all-time starting 5 - even if only because when paired with MJ, that's the most insane amount of accountability you'll ever get in any game of any sort, ever.

I don't have much memory of before (mostly followed TMac casually in the mid 2000's).

But been following the Celts since Ray Allen joined. And the only high stakes game I saw KG was really defeated was when (I think LeBron was wearing his mask due to a broken face and) KG fell and Lebron stared him down - that was Lebron at the height of his powers, and KG on his last legs. We're always in it with KG.

Great win today and a real bounce back game. It was a great surprise to get Al back.
I don't know if we'll shoot as well as we did in the first half again this series. That was absolutely ridiculous (and not sustainable numbers wise). However if we keep playing the same way I only think good things will happen. Rob opened up so much of the floor tonight as well. Great to have him back and playing well - hopefully he gets in a good rhythm for the rest of the playoffs.

He plays his ass off and he's got some nice chemistry going with Tatum.
Nice pocket pass to Grant in the post

Did pritchard really say herro was too small to guard him?? Lol i saw several tweets

If true probably not something you need to do. Just be humble and do your job, your performance will speak for itself.

And heat fans talked trash all day on Twitter that Al horford and smart won't make a difference....

Wasn't so easy for the heat was it with smart/horford instead of theis/white and having to play nesmith..

Glad to finally have our starting lineup back

What's more, Rob only played 20 minutes, partly due to foul trouble.  If he has a better game at home, heat have no chance.

As others have mentioned though, it's so nice playing againt the Heat and not having to worry about a "Giannis" kind of player. Giannis is without question the best player in basketball and I was always clenching every time he had the ball or was making plays during the Bucks series. He's so good and can win you multiple games in a series on his own.

I know Butler had a great Game 1 but he isn't always consistent with his performances and basically, Butler is no Giannis. Miami doesn't have that kind of player and while Miami may have some better depth and better shooters, the C's have the better high-end talent and I think the C's may actually be more physical too. Tucker and Butler are bulldogs but even then the C's straight up bullied Miami last night.

No Derrick White, wow, that makes things tough but if we have Smart and he can play like Marcus Smart, I would not write this off.

Pritchard can play the back up guard (he did in Game 1 behind White).  We will have to play with Smart and Pritchard together at times to allow Brown to get some rest.  I am not that concerned in terms of the guard rotation but what that rotation does is limit how much Brown can play for Tatum to let Tatum rest.  Nesmith will need to play 10-12 minutes again.

Here is how I see it:

Guards (96 min):
Smart (36), Brown (42), Pritchard (24)

SF (48 min):
Tatum (42 min), Nesmith (12 min)

Bigs (96 min):
GWill (36 min), RWill (28 min), Theis (20 min)

I know this doesn't add up exactly but it means there there will be about 12 min of small ball, only one big.

This is pretty much the same as last game except we hopefully will have Smart over White which should be an upgrade. This will be a tough win, we are playing Theis and Nesmith more than you would like (because of no Horford and White), and I guess Pritchard too, but overall, we are still not all that bad off.  If we don't have Smart, White, and Horford, may as well just rest everyone and hope we can win 4 of 5 when we have everyone back.

The game turned out to be a rout so some of the numbers are off but here is how it turned out:

Guards (Brown, Smart, Pritchard) ended up playing exactly 96 minutes but it was Smart who played 40 min with Brown at 33 and Pritchard at 23.  There was some garbage time guard minutes also.

Wings (Tatum and Nesmith) combined for only 39 minutes but there was some garbage time wing play.  It turned out to be a light night for Tatum.  That should pay off down the road.

Bigs (Horford, RWill, GWill) combined for 85 minutes.  All played solid.  The remaining big minutes were garbage time (Theis, Kornet).  They played all of the meaningful parts of the game with 2 bigs on the floor.  They did not go 1 big really at all.

With White back next game, he should take some minutes from Smart, Pritchard, and Nesmith.  No one should need to be overworked.  White has been averaging 24 min in the playoffs, Pritchard 15 min.  We may see that split more 20 min / 20 min with Smart reduced down to more like 35 min and Nesmith likely 0 min.

Overall, I think things look pretty good for a team with such issues with depth and roster construction   ;)

Seriously though, we have Theis (9th guy) as a decent player who we don't even have to play unless one of the bigs gets in foul trouble or something and then we have Pritchard as the back up to the back up (White) who is giving us outstanding minutes when we need him to.  I will concede that our back up wing (Nesmith 10th guy) is not quite playoff ready but we can mitigate that with our guard depth that allows Brown to play wing when Tatum needs to rest and vice versa.  During those times, we just play with 2 guards and 1 wing instead of 1 guard and 2 wings.  And even Nesmith has been able to hold his own when needed the last couple of games.

Man, there are so many things that I would like to say but I am afraid to say them out loud due to my irrational fear of jinxes and all that.  We cannot afford a let down after this win.  We need to just keep it up.  Miami is still a very good team.  We can be lulled by this one easy game.

It's been so long since we had the starting 5 out there and being in a rhythm on both ends, I forgot how good they can be.

I don't see how anyone stops them while they're clicking like this.
