He might not light up the stat sheet but his presence and decision-making is so crucial against Miami's zone and now Bam Adebayo can't go Wilt Chamberlain against Theis. Timelord + Horford can combat Tucker/Bam and suddenly we match up very well against Miami in that department.  There's A TON of pressure on Butler and their guards to perform and they won't always be able to

Man, nothing would make me happier than for Smart to put up a few more games like this in the series en route to a gentleman's sweep and he win the first ever Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophy. Only right that a Celtic gets the inaugural trophy for the East, and nobody embodies Larry's spirit of a champion more than Smart.

My only concern was allowing 12 offensive rebounds.  Otherwise everything was great.  28 assists, just 9 turnovers.  Generated great shots all night, including from 3.  We just picked the Heat apart.

Smart is the key to our team - period. Great game for Tatum and JB and several other contributors. Timelord is a factor. Love this team. This coach is really good too.

Marcus Smart isn’t the best player on the Celtics but imo he’s the most important player.
As Smart goes, the Celtics go.

His chemistry with Al and the Jays is next level. Of course, they've played a ton of ball together, especially Marcus, Al and Jaylen.
