Covid is here to stay like the flu. With treatments and vaccines it's pretty ridiculous how we are still treating it this way.

Especially when you have full arenas with 20k people restriction free. You don't think covid is in the building?

Now, if Al is sick with a fever it's one thing. But Ime said he feels perfectly fine. So basically Al is missing games because he had to get tested because he was near a staff member with covid and miss games potentially affecting the series

What if the entire roster tests positive? Forfeit?

Is this real?  Since the series with Miami has already started, I don't see how it would be possible that they could start over against MIL.  This does not sound right to me.  I can see us having to forfeit games to MIA but it does not sound right that they could bring MIL back into this.

I think we've already "gone forward" by starting the series.  Like you, I can't imagine that it's legal to have another team substitute in once a series has started.

My guess is they’ve started Al on Paxlovid, which can very quickly drop your viral load.  Accordingly, it is not impossible that he produces two negative tests in time for tonight, or at least Saturday.

Arenas full of maskless people.  Crowded bars full of maskless people.  Yet a vaccinated player who was near someone with Covid can’t play.

as someone pretty supportive of masking, even I have to question the rationale for players at this point when the arena is packed and no one's wearing masks.

The sideline reporters are back to being up close and personal for on court interviews too.  Outside of Ime, coaches aren’t wearing masks and I don’t recall seeing the reporters wear them either, so you’re left with coaches and players leaning over and putting their ear  in front of someone’s mouth so they can hear them in a loud building lol

There's a reason why the loser got eliminated. They shouldn't sniff the playoffs for the year again. If anything, just forfeit by default and let the Heat advance. That's one of two logical sense. The second would be to postpone but they ain't postponing the West series or one conference will be at a huge disadvantage.

But knowing the NBA...that be money lost and they would eventually have no choice but to adjust rules on the fly lol!

another good point.  add in the officials and everyone working the game under the baskets and the sideline (timekeeper, etc...).  the players are within 6 feet of these people throughout the game.

Not everyone is vaxxed, and the virus hasnt evolved to a point where it has become endemic.

This is the reaction form this group? Not surprised. How about “who cares about COVID anymore?”

Isn’t it about time that we just be normal and play a bit sick? If the player can’t go, that’s one thing… but I don’t think we should let this nonsense change a playoffs series if the player could go.

That’s sports. You get hurt, you get sick, and you play through it if you can… especially in the ECF amongst the most physically healthy human beings on the planet.

Play on. Get rid of this rule.

My wife and I have been discussing this.  Time to move on.  There are vaccinations available that will reduce the illness to that similar to the flu.  If you chose not to get the vax and get Covid, good luck.  Me, I'm vaxed, and now double boosted.

If someone isn't vaxxed, that's their choice. We have the shot and therapies for those who what/need it.
Time to move on.
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Seems Al is upgraded from doubtful to questionable. If the last test before the game is negative, he'll play.
