Fully vaxxed and boosted here and got Covid three times. The "vax" is actually just a shot that minimizes the worst effects of Covid if you get it. It helps prevent the disease but not 100% and it helps to lessen the effects if you get it. It's not a "cure".

Yeah, I was double-vaxxed and got the first booster. I just happened to caught covid for the first time a few days after my booster. All I had was a runny nose and dizziness though, nothing severe.

- Without Smart and Horford, we did better than the Heat in 3 of 4 quarters.

- We only need to win one of potentially four games in Miami. Think of all the series we’ve seen where the higher seed wins game one at home, and still loses the series.

- Nesmith actually looked decent at times. Perhaps he can be an NBA role player like Batman and Pritchard?

- Smart should be ready come game two. Had he played, there’s no way the third quarter is quite like that.

Other silver linings?

The bad news: Horford may be unvaccinated (this is the third time he’s gone into protocols…) and unavailable for the series?

We don't even know if he tested positive. You can get put into protocols as a close contact of someone who tested positive. Since they won't disclose someone's test results or the reason they went into protocol for privacy reasons, it's all speculation.

What we do know is that someone who enters protocols due to testing positive only needs to stay there for 6 days provided they are asymptomatic. If they test negative or were never positive to begin with they can leave sooner.

Horford has confirmed he is fully vaccinated. Whether this is 2 or 3 shots I'm not sure. As for Omicron, you can catch it multiple times.

Rob Williams looked like himself.   Just needs to get his stamina back.

If Smart and Horford come back soon, they will have had extra time off for ateam that looks tired.

How quick some of you lose the faith. We got blown out game 1 against the bucks at home. and then responded game 2.

Responded after game 3 loss, and then after the abysmal game 5 loss against the bucks.

This team will realize they let this slip away and come prepared next game. Perhaps with reinforcements in horford and smart

The team lost focus or mental fatigue settled in at the half. I said before the series, turnovers were going to be the main thing. Miami plays aggressive, Boston has a tendency to be lazy, and the Heat’s best weapon is creating turnovers.

If Boston took iso step back threes instead of throwing 3-5 lazy passes in that 3rd quarter, we might’ve still won.

So it's pretty clear horford doesn't even have covid from Imes comments that he doesn't have any symptoms and could play game 2.

Kinda dumb we are having this effect an ECF. You think if Gianni's or lebron was exposed they would have them sit?

This will be a different team game 2 if smart/horford or one of them plays.

I said something similar in the game thread, but it's really unfortunate for us that the Western Conference/Mavs got the extra day off from game 7, while we just never got a chance to slow down. Not only did this affect the stamina of our guys, who surely could have used a day to chill, rather than rush off to Miami after a grueling series; but this led to Smart not playing and even Horford getting tested when he otherwise might not have (and if he did, that extra day could make all the difference in terms of games missed).

You would think the league would want fair, competitive series' at this point, but one of the Bucks/Celtics was always going to get screwed. Unfortunately that exacerbated itself with the Smart/Horford situation.

The fact that he could possibly play in game 2 is actually kind-of a joke because that does seem to indicate that he doesn't have Covid. And what is close contact at this point? Horford huddled up with his teammates a couple of hours before the game should rule everybody out if that's the criteria.

I really don't feel too bad about this series at all. The Celtics have to get healthy (available) and tighten some things up. But this Miami team is not as forceful as Milwaukee and in some ways much more like Brooklyn. I'm feeling pretty good.

The real silver lining is timelord played well, we can do better even without Smart and Al.
My only worry is other player will also test positive and miss time..

Since play by play have been kept no player until Tatum had 6 turnovers in 1 quarter (at least in the playoffs, perhaps both, I wasn't clear on what the stat was).  I'm going to go out on a limb and say that isn't going to happen again.

silver linings after watching last night's game:
- C's outscored the Heat in 3 out of the 4 quarters.
- getting crushed by a 22-2 run isn't likely to occur again.  Can't see Ime being foolish enough not to TO the hell out of the team if they go on another one of those stretches of incompetence again
- Smart should be available for game 2 which will push White to the bench.
- Al could be available for game 2 which would move GWill to the bench.  that'll make the bench deeper and theoretically more effective
- Jaylen can't play any worse than he did in game one.
- Tatum can't have 6 TOs in a quarter again.
- Butler may continue to enjoy love from the officials but not to the tune of 18 FTs.
- Timelord looked good in his minutes -- fully healthy based on how he played

The Celtics fan in me hates the lack of rest, but the non-homer in me thinks "if you want more rest, finish your series sooner."

So with that mentality, I'm okay with only one day off between Game 7 of the semis and Game 1 of the conference finals, but I also think there should at least be at least 2 extra days off throughout the course of the series (between games 2-3 and 4-5).  Really though it comes down to the NBA wanting the Finals to be on certain days.

I could be wrong but a friend told me that this stuff is actually pre-determined already. Even in 2017, the Celtics won Game 7 against the Wizards on a Monday night, and then two days later (Wednesday) was the Draft lottery AND Game 1 of our series vs. Cleveland. Short turnaround then too
