Question - Could Jaylen and Jayson's absences have anything to do with the vaccination requirement to play in Toronto? I don't remember them saying specifically they've been vaccinated. In all likelihood it was a day of rest, but are we sure?

They both played in New York, so
I doubt it.
Both have had some knee issues and probably needed a rest anyway.

That rule didn't affect road team players.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure this whole thing is just sports radio manufactured conspiracy theory.

Again, did Jayson and Jaylen travel to Toronto and were they on the bench? Since when do players that are sitting out due to rest or minor injuries, not travel with the team?

This isn't a big deal because they missed one game. This team has essentially used a playoff rotation for three months now, and finally gets the best record in the East on Sunday. And the very next day, the team rest their two best players because of rest, which just happens to coincide with the only NBA city that requires everyone to be vaccinated? And if it was just for rest, why rest both guys for the same game, especially when Williams just got injured and Al is out for personal reasons?

With Robert Williams being out for some time, and Toronto surging of late, there is a good chance these two teams can meet in the first round. If that comes to pass, we will definitely know the answer then. The speculation this whole time was if Kyrie would miss home games. Imagine if both Jayson and Jaylen can't play a series in Toronto?

It is possible too that people sometimes tell the truth and there is nothing to read between the lines.

Not saying it isn't possible that they aren't vaccinated, but I'll go with knee issues since they've both been on the injury list for a couple of games and Jaylen was demonstrating knee discomfort last game.

Tatum has had COVID twice, right?  Maybe he never did get vaccinated.  But he has stated that he did get vaccinated after the first bout with it:

Quote
After a bout with COVID-19 last season that forced him to use an inhaler, Celtics star Jayson Tatum decided to get the vaccine.

“I mean, it’s your own decision,” Tatum said. “I fully understand the concerns of those who aren’t vaccinated that don’t want to, and I understand the people like myself that did. It’s your own personal health and your reason. Nobody should be judged one way or the other, whatever their decision is.

Brown was elusive when asked before the season:

Quote
“I have my own thoughts about it but I respect my teammates’ decisions and things like that,” Brown said. “I know everybody has their own opinion about it but I think it’s a personal choice.”

So for at least Tatum, it seems clear that he is vaccinated.

Brown played at Toronto on 11/28

The rules changed January 15th.

He played in Brooklyn on Feb. 8th.

Brooklyn/NYC's rule only applied to athletes and performers employed in NY.  Visitors could still play/perform without a vaccine.

Ah. I thought the total ban on the unvaccinated had been effect since the beginning of the season. Thanks for the correction

Thanks, I didn't realize that. What an absurd rule.
