NEW YORK — Kyrie Irving and other unvaccinated athletes will be allowed to play professional sports in New York City under a major policy change Mayor Eric Adams is poised to announce Thursday, people familiar with the matter confirmed.

Adams has been relaxing Covid-19 policies instituted by former Mayor Bill de Blasio since taking office Jan. 1, as he seeks to resume a sense of normalcy in the pandemic-ravaged city.

On Thursday the mayor is expected to declare his decision to reverse the private-sector vaccine mandate specifically for performers and athletes in local venues, including Barclays Center — home to the Brooklyn Nets — and both Citi Field in Queens and Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Mayor Sellout catering to the elites.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Interesting viewpoint. It can be argued they sold out to elites for imposing the mandates to begin with.

Kyrie lost my respect a while ago….when he tried to talk the player association into boycotting the “bubble games”.

He likes a full time pay for a part time job.

….and then he selfishly was willing to let a championship team opportunity go to waste.

I offered driving him to the airport on his way out of Boston….

Now, about the Nets.  Can’t wait to send them home on national TV

Coming from an American, with the worst Covid death rate for all developed countries, that is quite an odd thing to say.

I say odd, but really it is pure ignorance.

And you probably think the numbers aren't inflated correct.

I remember some of your old Covid stances that aged like milk. Not going to get into a discussion about it again with you, because it's pointless (and depressing) that after 2 years of this pandemic there are still such misinformed positions in places where information is readily available.

Your right.  Keep your mask on forever,  never leave your house again,  it's far to dangerous.

I knew Kyrie would win this. It's because baseball is coming mostly,  nothing made sense. Kyrie can go to games but not play? What a joke.

Welp. Looks like Brooklyn will have KD and Kyrie in the playoffs in all their home games. Now, if the team they play on the road is a city where there's no vaccine mandate, RIP eastern conference.

The boogie-man 8th seed, so scary! They still have to make it past the play-in (where they may play Toronto, where Kyrie cannot play)

Your Nets vs your Lakers in the Finals. Who will you be rooting for?

LOL …good for them

It still won’t save them from meeting a mad Celtics team in the playoff.
