A tumultuous and chaotic week for Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals might have reached its conclusion Thursday night when the team removed the independent study addendum from the quarterback's contract after it received significant backlash.

"After seeing the distraction it created, we removed the addendum from the contract," the Cardinals said in a statement. "It was clearly perceived in ways that were never intended. Sounds like the Watson ruling will be announced tomorrow, and based on the NFLPA's statement and tweets from some reporters, looks like he will end up playing at some point in 2022. In fact, he might only get suspended between 4-8 games.

1 has nothing to do with the field of play, 1 does.  You could, and I would, argue the one that does should have a much greater suspension than the one that does not.

Per sources, Deshaun Watson and the NFL did engage in further settlement talks in recent days, but neither side felt they got close. The best Watson’s side indicated it would accept was 6-8 games. Best league indicated it was willing to do was 12 games + heavy fine $8 mil range).

Interesting that the league was no longer insisting on an indefinite suspension with right to apply for reinstatement after a certain number of games. But the heavy fine was the tradeoff and Watson/NFLPA balked at it.

Just do the indefinite suspension, minimum of 17 games.  Let an arbitrator lessen it if they want to.

When I saw the reports last night that the player's union wasn't going to appeal I figured it was no more than 8 games and that they knew.  Arbitrator went for 6 games.  Be interesting to see if the NFL just accepts it.  No fine, but he is barred from getting physical therapy from any source that is not the Browns.  That part is interesting.

You can't have dozens of allegations of sexual assault have the same penalty as the minimum suspension for one allegation of domestic violence.

allegations are not convictions.  As we know every time a grand jury heard the evidence, they declined to even charge Watson.  The arbitrator heard the evidence and made that determination.  And that arbitrator is a female retired federal judge.  It isn't like she hasn't heard those type of cases before.
